I was having fun with the macro setting on my phone. Looking for something interesting to film, I pulled a circulated 2005 buffalo nickle from my pocket. It's not a rare coin, but it is unique. It's not something we always find in our change. It has a very different looking side-view portrate of Jefferson on the obverse and the iconic buffalo on the back.
The camera picks up all the dents and scratches that accumulate on a circulated coin. It seems to add to the detail of this coin. Jefferson seems to be looking at the word "TRUST" and the word "liberty" is hand-written near his mouth, as if he's speaking it.
It's an interesting design.
The reverse with the buffalo is also very detailed, with a stately "FIVE CENTS" on the bottom. The detail of the buffalo even includes a portion that might be better omitted, but it is anotomically correct.
I thought at first the buffalo was standing on a branch of a tree, or something skiny, but it's actually just the ground. He might be at the edge of a lake or pond.
Again, the circulation damage shows in this macro photo. But observing this nickel enlarged like this really allows for a detailed examination of this coin.
The date on the modern US dime is so tiny, it's not always very easy to read if the light isn't good, or if you're half-blind like me. I actually took this photo to read the date, which is clearly 2014.
The design of the dime hasn't changed in many decades, the first dime with this design was minted in 1946. The original design for the reverse had a hand holding the torch and oak and olive branches.
I never noticed before, but the way "E pluribus Unim" is divided up, it looks like "E-PLU", "RIB", "US-U", "NUM". The letters are so tiny on an actual dime, can't see how funny it looks until you get up close.
Anyway, just wanted to share these photos and my thoughs, since I thought they looked intereting.
Seeing these coins close up, are there any observations you never noticed before?

Oh that's them special coins lol I collect Canadian circulation coins with unique design that get released here and there, sometime they go all out they had a 2 dollar coin that glow in the dark and was colorized
