Exactly. The only way to kind-of remove data from the blockchain is if ~15 (don't remember the exact number) of the top witnesses agree to do so. Technically, it's a fork then, and everyone's free to take the old chain and run with it. But at least the main Steem chain will no longer have the data.
Going to be an administrative hell hole if the witnesses have to continually address submissions on a case by case basis.
There are some times that I see the Steem application of blockchain being a really poor fit for social media. I really worry for the likes of dSound and dTube if they go mainstream.
There's not much debate really, blockchain is absolutely a poor fit for social media. That doesn't mean it can't craft a valuable niche for itself, despite its flaws.
Perhaps the best solution is a hybrid of the centralized and blockchain systems.
