For the first time Lenovo offers up to 128 GB RAM in a notebook. The ThinkPad P52 is a mobile workstation that can be equipped with Xeon or Core CPUs with up to 6 cores and GPUs up to the Nvidia Quadro P3200 also in terms of computing power. An optional UHD display with 10 bit color depth and 100% Adobe RGB is available.
For the first time up to 128 GB RAM in a notebook
Up to 128GB of DDR4 RAM in the ThinkPad P52 is possible with four of the new 32GB SO-DIMMs. But then there is no ECC support, because modules with error correction are only offered with 16 GB each for a maximum of 64 GB RAM.
Optional six CPU cores and Quadro P3200
The processors available range from Xeon and Core models from Intel's 8th generation to the 6-core Core i7-8850H or Xeon E-2176M models based on Coffee Lake. Graphics calculations are taken over from Nvidia's Quadro series based on Pascal GPUs. Options range from the Quadro P1000 to the Quadro P2000 to the Quadro P3200 with 6GB of GDDR5 memory. Details of the mass storage options are not yet known. A total of up to 6 TB of storage should be available.
15.6-inch display with FHD or UHD and Touch
The 15.6-inch display is offered as a full HD version or as a touch version with Ultra HD, 400 cd/m² and 100% Adobe RGB. An infrared camera with 720p resolution and ThinkShutter coverage or a normal 720p webcam is optionally installed. The fingerprint scanner, on the other hand, is part of the standard equipment. Connectors include two Thunderbolt 3, HDMI 2.0, Mini-DisplayPort 1.4, three USB 3.0 ports, and audio and Ethernet. The 4-in-1 card reader is optionally supplemented by a smart card reader. An Intel radio modem provides ac-WLAN and Bluetooth 5.0. LTE is only available from Fibocomm as an option.
Less than 2.5 kg in the lightest version
With a thickness of 24.5 mm and a weight of 2.45 kg (in the lightest version), the ThinkPad P52 is still relatively compact. The manufacturer speaks of the "currently lightest 15-inch VR-Ready Workstation". The battery life is specified as up to 15 hours, depending on the equipment. The tip version should not only be heavier, but also work much shorter without a mains plug. The 90 Wh battery is replaceable.

The ThinkPad P52 mobile workstation will be available from mid-July 2018 from 1,990 € (plus VAT) and 2,368 € (including 19% VAT) at authorized Lenovo dealers.
