Collection Highlights -

Got a sweet little piece of silver here today. This is from one of my favorite modern series The Silver Shield series. These were made by Golden State mint and they have released an absolute ton of varieties of these. Most of them are very similar in nature and have a rant against the debt and government while promoting freedom.

They made a absolute ton of these in 2018 with a wide variety all in a grouping called the mini mint series where they made anywhere from a couple hundred to a couple thousand of each round. This 2018 model D + D had a mintage of $3, 331.

Golden statement is one of my favorite mints for their designs and for how well they're rounds come out. It's been around since the early 1980s when it started with prospect around, and produced many of our favorite rounds for stacking like the standing liberty rounds as well as series from the crescent City silver.

Obverse

The front of the coin brings in some strong imagery. It shows a skull with what looks like a US military helmet on that says death debt forever. It's followed by what looks like a couple of badass battle axes, handcuffs and arrows. I believe it speaks to the long history that they've had of creating wars and impoverishing our citizens and others to repay the debts.

Reverse

The reverse is the sweet Silver Shield design. One of my absolute favorite designs has some really beautiful imagery of a nice sword with a bunch of what appears to be very sacred geometry type lines and designs. This reverse design is one reason why the Silver Shield series is my favorite as it's one of the best reverses that I have seen. It's been so good I don't think they've changed it and it's been a steady constant on their releases.

I wish I had more Silver Shield coins as I'm a big fan of most of their designs but I've never made it a point good to go out and buy them at a big premium. Most of these have smaller mintage and they seem to have a fairly deep collectors market where if they come up for sale they are at a fairly High premium over the silver price.

Dam that’s in rough condition. I have one but it looks like it was just minted.

So far, I haven't made it to my Silver Bullet, Silver Shield Silver Rounds... I have a lot of the first ones...

No matter what subject they put on the reverse, I can't get enough of the Obverse, the third iteration of the Silver Shield's Trivium.
