Why I love Hive? - notes from an Instagram "Tech" Influencer

in #leofinance3 years ago (edited)

I love Hive and I have only been here for about a week. Well, I used to have Steemit - but I certainly don't feel the same way as 2 years ago.

I started blogging on social media about 3 years ago, when I created my own brand called "AI Coding". The main reason behind creating this brand was because I was bored at work and it was not very fulfilling. I wanted to create something of my own.

I first started by creating the basic accounts - whatever everyone was creating: Instagram. It was fairly easy to grow there: a girl who codes - you can imagine 🚀

On Instagram I was just sharing nice pictures of myself and trying to write (like a blog post) interesting stuff about Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Machine Learning... and every now and then I started creating fun videos about my Computer Vision projects and ideas. A lot of people started following me in the beginning... I even got famous singers and artists reaching out to me. I felt like I've made it in life back then. Everything eventually ended up being very fake, obviously. Like almost everything Instragram gives you. It's - to me - a very shallow platform.

I am not gonna lie and say that I didn't benefit from it. I did, of course: free desks, met some cool developers and got to participate in cool debates online. However, I didn't feel that it was the platform to be recognized and rewarded for my work. If anything, the opposite to that. I was starting to feel that the content was consuming me and I was getting nothing out of it. In fact, not a lot of people do. Therefore, I jumped to another platform: YouTube.

YouTube gave me a bit more of hope - the algorithm was definitely more optimal, but the good content also gets shadowed by some of the shallowest content out there.

Hive is different.

I am still very new to everything related to Blockchain technology, but I can already feel more satisfied with my content being published here than anywhere else.

You literally get rewarded for sharing your experiences, your knowledge. I identify more with my audience, and my audience identifies more with my content too.

You are not scared of being censored, regulated. And your audience "flows" with that as well. There is less competition feeling and more community development. I am not saying that competition doesn't exist, but you are rewareded with good content, you are basically being told to creae GOOD - not harmful or demeaning - content which will not be rewarded and not count as competitive. We embrace each other, we don't drag people down.

The rewards go directly to you - the content creator, not third parties. BELIEVE ME, THIS IS KEY. LIKE SUPER KEY. GOLDEN!

I think even if someone just uses Hive in the begining to "get rich quick", that person will eventually understand why s/he stayed using the platform as their social media alternative.

And you...? What do you like/dislike about Hive?

Sort:

oh man, in another life, I would have been an AI coder! Especially for creating wierd evolving creatures like steve grand projects.... I had a whole idea about simulating an evolving genetic code based on decision making cooldowns and associations (it wasnt really AI, more like just a bunch of deep rng) so that you could effectively dabble in complex breeding and create an nft market for highly specialised creatures that performed functions within a metaverse environment. Imagine! Like bio-cyber-robots with unique behavioural complexes (including negative ones! ha!). You could have prize winning tournaments, competitive sports, conversationalists, artists, musicians, you name it.... imagine the MARKET!?? Imagine the bizarreness!
sorry, I got excited
What I meant to say was 'Welcome!'
: )

Very interesting Welcome :D loved it. I am the one who believes there is enough time in our current life to do everything so I think you have time to try to build those creatures :D

Thanks for sharing and for the warm and exciting welcome!

To me, almost 4 years on steem then and on hive now .. I must say that Hive has become a way of life for me. It is something that I daily do :)

Thank you! I am also making Hive a habit :D

I have been blogging and creating content for a few years now and I have to say that the community here is a lot more mature and generally of a better calibre than many other platforms. It's a great place to be!

I agreee 100%, I forgot to mention exactly that: MATURE.

Great to have you as part of the community.

Dislike: The velocity of development is slow

Like: Awesome community, supportive community and people that really care about each other and about the platform.

Great place for content creators to share their content and be truly rewarded for it. It feels like other social platforms are attacking their content creators instead of helping them which is just going to pave the way for platforms like Hive to thrive once more social aspects are added on the front end.

I agree. It is only about time (and a bit of promotion behind) until other content creators start migrating here. Looking forward to it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Well, I love Hive because it is the only place where I am dueling my own content and where I am generating revenue for myself and I know that no one is profiting from my data, and of course for many other reasons like NFTs, Dapps, DeFi and other things.

Welcome to Hive @aicoding!

I loved your story! Your honesty is refreshing, and I am glad to you here. I always wonder about how an influencer moves their following here?
I speculate that you could use the free account interfaces through a comment to each of your followers, but that I might imagine, could be a violation of the TOS?

I wonder if it’s okay for someone else to invite your followers to Hive?
And if they did, how would they do it? Create an account called Fans of AI Coding?
What ideas do you have?

If you want you can DM me in the Leofinance discord, if that would be better. I would like to help.

Thank you @shortsegments for the support and your kind help!

Honestly, I've grew all my social medias in an organic way - and that is the approach I will have with Hive asa well. I don't have intentions to become an influencer just because - I don't get motivated just by the following.

What I love to do is to educate people and to show how you can improve your life depending on the tools you use. My approach right now is to share my blog post on other social media accounts so people can read about why I am migrating from one account to another. It's their choice and critical thinking who will allow themselves to make a clear decision whether they should come here as well or not :)

Hi @aicoding
That sounds wise. There are significant barriers to entry here, in terms of the terminology, learning curve and other cryptocurrency challenges for those new to both crypto and social media on the blockchain.

That's true. But I am also hoping that people will eventually see the value in the platform and jump in. It is benefitial for them and for the ones who are already using it ;)
