It has been a long time I posted anything about my dCity performance. Everything was going smoothly till the new popularity update came into effect in the game. Almost all players' city is affected due to this update as population is decreased all of a sudden and so many cards become inactive.
About dCity
dCity is a NFT based mathematical and trading game on Hive blockchain. Each card has different attributes like population, popularity, income, education, creativity, tax refund etc. and it requires smart calculation to improve the performance as accumulation of any cards to improve any attribute may badly impact another attribute.
Population
Any building card which has worker requirement is active only if there is enough population in the city to fulfill the demand for workers. There is a popularity bonus which increase the base population, but recently the popularity bonus is decreased after governance voting. As soon as this new update came into effect my city lost more than 10k population and as a consequence many building cards become inactive, which directly impacted daily SIM income, reduced overnight.

Now to compensate this population shortfall one need to buy card from the market. It seems nearly impossible to bring the population at previous level as there are not many cards available and whatever available in the market is already have skyrocketed. Apartment card which increase the population to 20 was available for about 3k SIM before update, is currently having asking price of 30k SIM. Similarly, other cards which have population attribute also have become overpriced.
What next?
The impact of reduced population is not in the favor of game. There is another governance voting in progress and the majority of mayors are in favor to bring back the previous popularity bonus.
Judging by the current voting, it seems that, since most mayors are in favor of the earlier popularity bonus, the old situation will soon resume and the damage caused by the population decline will be repaired.
