A Food Delivery App That Offers All Local Restaurant Options

Today you can find a wide variety of food delivery apps in the market, including names like DoorDash, GrubHub, Uber Eats, Postmates, and others.

Right now DoorDash has the largest slice of the food delivery market, after that it's UberEats close behind with GrubHub, and others.

This space is growing fast in the last few years, especially after COVID-19 hit and more people started to order and eat from home when things closed down.

Nowadays there are new varieties of food delivery apps coming to market in the U.S. and some of them are specifically looking to promote local food options.

One is coming to the Nebraska market soon that is looking to partner with and promote local food specifically.

The new delivery app coming to Omaha is known as LoCo Omaha and it will be offering services starting next week for those who want to order local for food delivery in that area.

Most of the funds will be going to the restaurants and they're hoping that it helps bring some prosperity to the struggling restaurant community in the region, offering them an alternative to apps like DoorDash or Grub Hub, that might be able to help get a better money-making opportunity.

They've already signed on over a dozen local places that want to participate.

A limit to paying for convenience

People might be ordering more on the food delivery apps because they want convenience, or they were limited in restaurant choices during COVID-19 etc, but there are some limits. For example, surveys have found that those who use delivery apps on average want to wait no more than 30 mins for their food, up to a maximum of 40 minutes is the longest they indicate they are willing to wait.

The fees cannot be too high either, users of these services have indicated through surveys that there is a cap on how much they are willing to spend. Including delivery fees and all other taxes etc, it ranges from $6-$10 which also includes the tip. One survey found that about 35 percent said they wouldn't be willing to pay more than $5 for the service, and about 28 percent willing to go up to $15 or more. It can be easy to find yourself paying $10+ in fees, tip, taxes, all combined, after you've put in your order on these apps. How much are you willing to pay for convenience? For some it is more than others.

There has been a growing issue with restaurants and food delivery apps because of the fees that they take, with restaurants already working with small margins they have said it eats in too much to their profits. Now lawmakers in different regions are looking to pass legislation that bans those delivery apps from charging too much, or introducing a local tax on the delivery instead of charging it to the restaurant etc.

The new app coming to Omaha is just one more option in the market that can hopefully bring some much needed support to the restaurant industry when they need it the most.
