Costco Customers Warned of Nationwide Recall of Beans over Botulism Risk

Cans of organic black beans that are sold through Costco have recently been recalled over potential botulism risks. There are a number of varieties of these organic black beans that have been sold through their distribution channels and are now being recalled from stores around the country.

The issue stems from compromised seals on the cans of S&W ORganic Black Beans and Chili Beans that had been sold at different locations.

Those who are selling black beans in the market, including stores like Costco, have an interest in preventing their customers from getting sick and buying bad products. It doesn't take the government or any collective force in order to launch a recall of bad products from the market. Just because there are central organizations in the market through government today that try to do this job doesn't mean they're the only ones that can do it, the only ones who have an interest in it being done, or that they're the best ones for the job.

Whether it be recalls over romaine lettuce for risks of E.coli infections, or recalls of baby food because of concerns for toxins like arsenic contaminating the products, multiple actors within the market have an interest in making sure these problems are found out about and dealt with.

There is the potential to come up with voluntary measures that can investigate and verify the quality of food products. From using blockchain technology to certain seals of approval etc, those behind the system and products would have a very high interest in maintaining that reputation because once one or many mistakes are made, it could be impossible to repair that damage.

Stores and other producers can notify customers themselves and do it directly when there is a problem, they don't have to wait for another organization to do it or tell them to do it.

People don't want to buy food that's coming from places who don't care about the quality. It won't take long before they simply stop going there and find higher quality food areas to shop with.

Right now those behind the black beans are voluntarily recalling the products after potential food poisoning concerns and it isn't just beans from Costco either, but other retail stores too. There are at least 3 varieties of those cans that have been recalled because of concerns over a compromised seal, it became an issue after several customer complaints.

I have actually been trying to stay away from beans anyway, so cool, this is just another reason. I have been trying to eat as fresh as possible lately. Next month is the 39th and I want to roll into my 40s like the Kool Aid man so I need to get healthy, lol.

Less meat, less cow milk, less box store garbage.

When I went vegan, Not saying go vegan but I went whole food plant based meaning no oils nothing I didn't make and I went from 220 to 165 in one 6 months. I worked out hard though and roofed.

I love beans, Eat Alot of black beans but I buy dry and make them myself.

Not sure why any food recall would be voluntary though. 🤔 But food is big money and that's all they care about

Imagine that! I swear they want to make us sick. I got sick over the bad batch of romaine lettuce months ago. Thanks.
