David Langston Smlr portrayed Sam Lucas, a friendly neighbor whose warmth and kindness enriched the Huxtable family’s lives. Beyond The Cosby Show, Smlr was known for his work on ER, Sesame Street, and Benson. He passed away from lung cancer at age 80 on March 22, 2016. His legacy is a testament to the power of community support and kindness.
