Russell Johnson played the analytical and inventive Professor Roy Hinkley, often called "The Professor." Known for his sharp intellect and problem-solving genius, the Professor tirelessly worked in his makeshift laboratory to find ways to help the castaways escape the island. Clad in a white shirt and tan pants, his resourcefulness was pivotal to the group’s survival.
Johnson’s career extended into other TV roles, including two episodes of The Twilight Zone, and he starred in The Ghost of Flight 401. He died on January 16, 2014, at the age of 89 from kidney failure. His scientific and calm demeanor contributed greatly to the show's enduring appeal.
