i7 LGA2011 comparision [Equihash with 6800K vs. 3820]

in #lga20118 years ago (edited)

Hi all,

Haven't built a machine in a while, and I'm playing around with (2) LGA2011 boards. One is an older ASROCK running a Sandy Bridge-E at 4.2gHz:

The newer board is a v3 running a 6800K, but I am now running at at 3.8gHz:

I really just know enough to be dangerous, XMP profile is running on the 3820 machine. I guess the greater operating speed is making the difference here?

Cheers,
SLC

Ok so no quad channel RAM on the miner yet, so obviously it's bottlenecked! Will post new benches new.

Here we go, 4 sticks now:

6800k 35.81 Sol/s 0.00 Sol/s (0.00%) 16.0 13
i73820 18.13 Sol/s 0.00 Sol/s (0.00%) 8.0 161
sTILL 2.10 Sol/s 0.00 Sol/s (0.00%) 1.0 204

I picked up (4) 4GB Sapphire RX470. I get instant crashes trying to Benchmark with NiceHash miner. I'm using one of Claymore's miners now and no problems for 12 hours running the 6800K simultaneously on NHEQminer. Trying to flash the BIOS so I can use SilentArmy miner but only tried an ATIWinFlash tool so far.

It certainly is strange. Are you comparing them on the same day? Difficulty can change fast...
