Ron DeSantis Bans Transgender Athletes At Start Of Pride Month

Ron DeSantis (Governor of Florida) has banned Transgender athletes from playing in leagues that are not of their gender here in the State of Florida at the very start of Pride Month.

Some students and athletes have been very vocal about their opposition to having biological males competing in their female leagues and that has garnered the attention of the Republican Party in the State of Florida. Many believe that it is completely unfair for boys, who claim they are girls, to be competing with females while also receiving chemicals that alter the hormones of these athletes. In numerous individual cases throughout the country, biological males, who are transgender people, have been outcompeting female athletes and have been breaking records as "females". Thus, taking away the opportunities that young biological females have tried to achieve themselves without the use of hormone altering drugs.

Earlier today, Ron DeSantis has signed the bill which prevents transgenders from competing in these leagues. These restrictions do not apply to their own leagues, as these individuals are free to establish a new league with new rules that accept transgender athletes.

What do you think about transgender athletes competing in male or female leagues?

I think I would not want my daughter's cranium fractured by a man with gender dysphoria.

I think people should be free to identify however they please. Having said that, the whole point of having separate sports for Men and Women has to do with the biological characteristics being born as a certain gender gives you. No amount of surgery and hormone treatments can completely change that. So if you are going to allow people to participate based on their gender identity, you might as well not have separate sports for men and women. Of course, that would pretty much destroy womens' opportunity to participate in competitive sports in many cases. I really don't understand how this is not immediately obvious to everyone.

I agree completely, even if I disagree with their "identity". Personally, there should be more competing leagues that will allow everybody to play, but if that league isn't successful then it's not successful. The market will decide what gets more attention, more money and more favoritism from the public.
