“Nowhere has communication been more transformed than in the rise of social networks like Facebook and LinkedIn.” (Langton, Robbins, & Judge, 2016). Given the vast audience we are able to reach, it is important to consider our communication techniques since social networks are a projection of our personal brand.
Some communication strategies that can be used on our professional networks are:
Setting goals of your target audience (to whom does your message or brand apply)
Bring Value to your audience (offer fresh perspectives. Use personal references and experiences to create posts that are relatable)
Use language that is plain and simple, avoid semantics
Filter all messages on forums before posting (avoid spelling & grammatical errors)
Separating our personal and professional profiles on social media is a matter of personal preference. Therefore, take time to carefully plan your post and create a lasting impression.
