System76 is a high quality computer manufacturer that also specializes in providing Ubuntu (Linux) as the operating system.
They have announced their new Ubuntu based OS specifically produced for creatives called Pop!_OS. This new OS is currently in Alpha with the first release due in October 2017.
It is designed to be a more "out of the box" system with all the configuration and software customizations to work on their HiDPI screens as well as the rest of the system hardware and other creator specific peripherals such as tablets. This will allow creatives to not have to worry about learning the internals of the Linux system but instead it will get out of the way so they can get to creating.
I am really excited to see this. I'm a fairly seasoned Linux geek, but I would love to not have to spend hours fiddling with set up on things like the jackd sound system or the Wacom tablet or a myriad of other little things that need to be tweaked and configured to make things "just work".

diggndeeper.com cool post bro thx intresting read
Thanks! These are good times to be a content creator, that's for sure.
I'm not excited about "yet another Linux distro". They could just do a spin of Ubuntu or Fedora and be fine. IMHO it's a waste of time and will prevent me from buying from them.
It is a spin of Ubuntu, as the article states. They are just trying to create a distro that takes care of the hassles for non-techies. I don't know why this would stop you from buying from them. I'm guessing this will be an option along with their typical Ubuntu offer.
Of course, you could simply install any distro you want on the machines. I would install Mint or Arch as with all the rest of my machines.
I love choices.
