You are a shy boy who is new in town with no friends to speak of. At a fair, you win one of the games and receive a wooden unicorn as your prize. In the middle of the night, you awake to find a real unicorn curiously staring down at you.

You decide to go out and meet this magnificent creature.

The unicorn has no clue who you are and tries to escape to go back to its natural habitat in the forest. You try to calm it down, but every time it sees you coming close, it flinches from you. Therefore, since you don't want to scare it, you decide to take the unicorn to a nearby town and go have some hamburgers.

Unfortunately, the train station is closed for business for the day and you can't find a way to get it home. The unicorn can't take this rejection and runs away. You chase after it and find yourself in a large field of open pasture. With nowhere to go, you stay there.

The next morning, you both are lying on the ground, fast asleep. You wake up first to see that the unicorn is still with you. You stand up and it follows suit. You both are hungry, but there is nowhere to go and you can't leave the unicorn on its own for too long.

The next week goes by, both of you spending your time by the river stream. Day by day, the unicorn grows more and more accustomed to your presence. The distance between you and the creature diminishes, as you put its needs above your own.

Slowly but surely, the unicorn warms up to you. Eventually, there is no need for conversation and neither of you has anything to say. It is a beautiful friendship you have… until the day that comes.

The chase is on once again, but this time it doesn't end with a three second sprint. The unicorn immediately bolts into a sprint as soon as it sees you coming. While running, the unicorn swiftly slashes its right front hoof with horn and without stopping, it tumbles down.

It looks like the unicorn has broken its leg. The unicorn starts to cry in pain and the sound roars out of fear of you. You too feel affected by the sadness of the unicorn and you start to cry. You spend the rest of the day by its side, deciding to find a way to make it feel better.

You go to the river to catch a fish and cook it over a fire. You take it over to the unicorn's side to feed it. It flinches, but you reach out your hand and try to feed it again. It tastes it, licks its lips and tries to eat it with its mouth. You figure out that it can't eat with its hoof, so you feed it as if it were a baby bird. When it's done eating, it touches your hand and blushes.

The next morning, the unicorn is still in the same place.
