A wonderful and welcome to the first Lost Place exploration here on this blog. In the future I would like to take you here regularly on my adventures and bring you the story behind these abandoned places a little closer.
In this post I would like to introduce you to what was then the fourth largest luxury hotel in all of Germany. This has since been completely demolished after a devastating fire. But the site can still be visited today and one house has actually survived, which I took a closer look.
The Hotel
This photograph dates back to 1900. The hotel was built in 1874 and the construction costs at that time amounted to over 1.5 million marks. Unfortunately, the decline of the hotel began in the 1970s and many formerly prominent guests stayed away. Then, at the end of the 1990s, the forced auction took place. As other owners and investors gradually allowed the hotel to fall into disrepair, it was only after urgent requests from the city that it was finally demolished a few years ago.
In recent years, several fires have raged, as every now and then young people and arsonists have set something on fire. Unfortunately, this is often the case with abandoned houses.
Urban Exploration
As mentioned above, there is still one building on the site that has survived. The rest has since been demolished. Here is an aerial view of the building that still exists:
I have no idea what this building was supposed to have been about. Maybe a janitor or something like that lived here? Although I also found evidence that there was a dormitory and a kitchen with an elevator here. Maybe someone really prominent was housed here? A president perhaps?

A really exciting and at the same time sad place. One always wonders what fates lie behind it. Who all probably worked here and was happy about his job. But from one day to the next, everything went down the drain.

Einen wunderschönen und willkommen zur ersten Lost Place Erkundung hier auf diesem Blog. In Zukunft möchte ich euch hier regelmäßig auf meine Abenteuer mitnehmen und euch die Geschichte hinter diesen verlassenen Orten etwas näher bringen.
In diesem Beitrag möchte ich euch das damals viertgrößte Luxushotel in ganz Deutschland vorstellen. Dieses wurde inzwischen nach einem verheerenden Brand komplett abgerissen. Doch das Gelände kann noch heute besichtigt werden und ein Haus hat tatsächlich überlebt, welches ich mir genauer angeschaut habe.
Das Hotel
Diese Aufnahme stammt aus dem Jahr 1900. Gebaut wurde das Hotel 1874 und die Baukosten betrugen damals über 1,5 Millionen Mark. Leider begann der Niedergang des Hotels in den 1970er Jahren und viele ehemals prominente Gäste blieben aus. Ende der 1990er erfolgte dann die Zwangsversteigerung. Da weitere Besitzer und Investoren das Hotel nach und nach verkommen ließen, wurde es erst nach dringlicher Aufforderung der Stadt vor einigen Jahren endgültig abgerissen.
In den letzten Jahren haben etliche Feuer gewütet, da immer mal wieder Jugendliche und Brandstifter etwas angezündet haben. Bedauerlicherweise ist das oft der Fall bei verlassenen Häusern.
Urban Exploration
Wie bereits oben erwähnt, gibt es auf dem Gelände noch ein Gebäude, welches überlebt hat. Der Rest wurde inzwischen abgerissen. Hier eine Luftaufnahme vom noch existierenden Gebäude:
Ich habe keine Ahnung, worum es sich bei diesem Gebäude gehandelt haben soll. Vielleicht hat hier ein Hausmeister oder ähnliches gewohnt? Obwohl ich auch Hinweise gefunden habe, dass es hier einen Schlafraum und eine Küche mit Aufzug gab. Vielleicht wurde hier auch jemand richtig prominentes untergebracht? Ein Präsident vielleicht?

Ein wirklich spannender und zugleich trauriger Ort. Man fragt sich immer, welche Schicksale dahinter stecken. Wer hier alles wohl gearbeitet hat und glücklich über seinen Job war. Doch von einem Tag auf den anderen ging alles den Bach runter.
