Nowadays, if we consult a therapist, or we attend a workshop or a seminar on self-development, the main focus and the most discussed subject is self-love. Whether our relationship doesn’t seem to work, or maybe we are stuck in the past, or people and jobs are draining us, usually it all comes to this ultimate solution: love yourself!
Many of us have different recipes when it comes to self-love. I am sharing with you, my own:
SPEND TIME IN NATURE
Nature! Nature! Nature! As much as possible. As I read in a book: “The simplest way to meet God is by being in nature”. This is true, whatever God means to you. In nature, you connect with the earth and with the flow of life. This ultimately connects you with yourself and therefore the love in you rises. But don’t go in nature to overthink. Just go there to observe, to breathe, to relax.
MEDITATE
You probably heard enough from meditation already. But ask yourself if you also practiced enough. Everyone has his own technics to meditate. Mine is pretty simple. I simply stay still wherever I am (I prefer nature), possibly in the lotus position, but not necessarily. And I breathe 3 times deeply, reminding me how awesome, complex and interesting we are as beings. Suddenly all my worries and problems melt into a great feeling of knowing that I am a great expression of consciousness, the universe’s mind. In essence, we are that place where the mind, body and our emotions can exist. So whenever I’m remembering this, the connection with myself and the world increases.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL ACTIVITY
Do sports, exercise, paint, write, move! Whatever you like. It doesn’t matter what kind, whatever resonates with you. It is also scientifically proven that being involved in physical and mental activities, shuts the monkey mind, putting you into a flow where your feeling of self-worth rises. Automatically the self-love levels are going up. So be active!
CONSUME CONSCIOUSLY
This includes information in general. It doesn’t matter in which form it comes. All energy is information. Whether it is in form of food, music, news, chatting or talking, learning, and so on. Be very conscious about your exchange of information. Breathe right, eat right, watch the right things, talk the right things, etc. Right or wrong is subjective, therefore do whatever feels right for you, without compromising your general mental, physical and emotional health.
SOCIALIZE OR/AND LEARN TO STAY ALONE
If you have the right people by your side, then do socialize. Of course, not everyone is in the mood all the time and not everyone has them, therefore you should also be able to go within without being dependent on social contact. Otherwise, you will feel drained more than recharged. That’s when you will learn who you are and find deeper insights of your true nature. So, socialize whenever you can and feel that you need it, but understand however when it is time to be with yourself and embrace it.
Self-love can be seen from so many perspectives and it can have so many solutions. Most of the time, they are so simple and mundane, and because sometimes we get caught in this game of life and take it too seriously, we forget the simplest things in life that get us there. Much love!
