Well, the thing is, that Steemit is not a social network - you don't share daily musings here like on Facebook. Steemit is a platform for bloggers and content creators. There is lots of work flowing into the creation of good content. If you are not a content creator yourself (90% of people on social media aren't) you may wait for Apps like Appics, that will run on the Steem blockchain and be much more suitable for these kinds of things.
