I just want to share what I learned about Valentine’s Day in Japan from our Japanese client.
In the Philippines, it is an obligation of men to give a flowers or chocolates or letters to their loved ones. It is their way to express their feelings towards others.
In Japan, it is a strong tradition that women are to give chocolates to men on Valentine’s Day. Some Japanese women prefer to make chocolate by themselves because they consider it as not true love if they buy a readymade chocolates.
What is more interesting in Japan is that they have a “White Day” which will be held on March 14, a month after Valentine’s Day. On that day, men are now to give gifts to the women who give them chocolates or gifts on Valentine’s Day.
