LOVE SPY ♥ 1 — Showmance

in #lovespy6 years ago (edited)

I looked at Selina's red-carpet moment and she stood there in her hand-stitched, embroidered, 30s-inspired lacy slip dress with all her exuberant feminine spirit. I've been watching how the gown and glam flowed together with her as she walked delicately. And, just before that, she had bombarded my boss, Ms. Pike, with a plethora of cool new ideas on practical bags, matching accessories and chunky cowboy-style ankle boots. I'm supposed to be doing my spy thing on the singer-turned-designer that time to confirm if there's really a SelBel phenomenon but, seriously, does anyone need to hear JB's prediction about it? Or that they had been the power couple Jelena?

"Lov, could you get a shot of the next attraction, SelBel's much-awaited PDA?"

"Yes, ma'am. But that's L-Zero-Five." I sighed and quickly positioned myself.

"Oh, Agent L-0-V, make sure you'd get the New York city attitude in the picture."

"What?" I shifted to the right side and captured this romantic red-carpet hug with smoochy ala SelBel.

Ms. Pike is Miss Vogue editor. She's one of those social media managers who likes being a campaign vibe. She's also the reason I got the #PDA — not your personal digital assistant — it's Public Display of Affection!

"Hope you're really not a PDA refusenik who is bothered by a showy official, unofficial, or an on-and-off couple hugging and kissing each other in public. I mean, you really have to have the stomach for this untimed, unregulated showmance."

I heard her comment behind me and frowned at Ms. Pike, who tweeted that "intimate" minute.

"You can see the exchange there and they seemed comfortable with each other in that position." I whispered back. "Abel might've been thinking that she's extremely talented and sexy."

"Oh. Right," she says smirking. "And she might've seen him as boyfriend-material."

"It looks like they're really into-each-other but you can't confirm it as real love, right?"

"Mmm, just one of a hundred ways to show the fondness Hollywood lovers share."

I can't help but sigh again. To be honest, I don't know if they're absolutely in love. Projecting an image that you're loved-up and together is simply conspicuous. You can display your on-screen sweetness to the whole world and smile at the camera and say, "We're official!"— but if it's just a five-second hanky-panky, it's all for the show.

"Shouldn't you take a close-up picture of his grope too?" Ms. Pike asks, when she gets to see Abel's hand reached for Selena's behind.

When you're dancing the classic way, a guy would place his hands on his girl's hips. But, if he's groping her butts publicly and she's squirming, that'd be the time you call the cops.

"A quick grope is still a grope." I hissed. Then my face flushed crimson up to my ears. My inner man voice suddenly sounded like my Dad with this protest: Seizing your girl shouldn't be like catching a ball with both hands. You've gotta learn the difference between what's legal and foul.

"Oh—er—Lov. I'm not entirely sure if he's her type—he may be a bit too comfy-xo-boy-meets-rebel girl—but it's soooo predictable for me. Remember this: Who would you allow to touch you?"

It's at exactly this instance that I've fallen into something like a wormhole. OK, it's a spacetime hole and I'm kind of like flowing in or out, moving back and forth inside it, and I see big Xs and Os around me—making me feel that the X symbolizes the Christian faith or the Roman death penalty while the O appears Yiddish for a sacred oath. That's one thing I hate about my own photographic memory. It seems to be a mnemonic device inside my brain that exists just for me to solve some mystery where I'm in. I shook it off and luckily Ms. Pike was preoccupied, tweeting the latest scenes of her Selena project.

When we got to the press seats, a gorgeous 24-year-old girl sizzling in her scarlet retro bob with tucked in inward curls looked at me like I'm some demented guy stumbling out there trying to find a spot. "How you doin'?" she said in her fake New York accent.

"Um, good, thanks," I said, raising my thick brows without hesitation.

"I was wondering..." she said, not finishing her sentence. "Can you make sure you get my aura?" She continued, unabashedly, then bit the left corner of her bottom lip after that query.

"You look good to me... I mean, it looks good to me," I replied, desperately hiding my embarrassment. I totally slipped in wanting to make an honest feedback when her blue eyes sparkled like the flaring lenses in the red-carpet event. Thankfully, she started to grin. It makes her look really girlish and way more beautiful and friendly.

"Come on, Lov. We haven't got all day!" Ms. Pike called out, interrupting a split-second magical scene.

"Just to make sure... Is she your—?" she said, grinning at me.

"Boss P."

"Ooh, of course."

"Megan," she whispered.

"Wow, brave warrior! It's L-O-V!" I said loudly in my pretend British accent.

"Love?"

"OMG, Lov!" Ms. Pike shrieked. "What have you done? You've tweeted it with Miss Vogue and it's now viral!" She slammed her 9.7-inch tablet with an HDR-ready futured proof screen down on the side table.

"What? Let me see," Megan said, intruding to what Ms. Pike wanted to show me.

"Is that all you care about?" She muttered under a breath while zooming in on the image and glared at me after looking at it.

"You could have deleted it, boss!" I whined.

Megan looked at me again and for a second there I thought she was kidding but she seemed disappointed.

"Hey, if there was something about the SelBel PDAs, 'twas a publicity stunt said Justin Bieber who exposed it on radio." I said quietly before she shrieked with sophisticated laughter.

In my mind, suspicion made a sarcastic retort: If you're both ready and more than willing, go for it, but not in public.

One of the press people, I can't tell her name, started to join the convo and asked Megan if I'm OK, but she didn't answer her directly. "I feel woozy. I need to go.I might pass out." She replied but she doesn't sound cheery anymore.

It took everything I've got not to yell at a paparazzo to get out of the way.

"Lov," Ms. Pike grunted, wanting me to take Megan out for a breath of fresh air. "Please go with this young lady. She needs a gentleman."

Megan shook her head. "No thanks."

I got it actually. It felt horrible though thinking that she might fall outside but she would not want a stranger like me help her leave a press con.

I thought about coming up with an excuse. Then she looked around and her gaze came back to me. Suddenly I had a weird feeling in the pit of my stomach.

"Are you going to invite me out?" She asked hopefully.

I stared at her and all I could say was, "That bad, huh?"

She nodded.

I instantly felt elated.

How about you?

Do you have any showmance caught on cam that you'd post online?

If you're not pro-PDA, why don't you post your thoughts about it and how you've been cautious with your intimate moments?

I'd like to hear from you, so reply now in the comments below.
