One thing when you are cruising around the beautiful world that is Antarctica is that you are going to see a lot of penguins either on the ice or land and in the water. When you do see them in the water it is usually because they are porpoising - basically, doing little jumps out of the water and typically almost synchronized with other animals they are swimming with. It happens very very very quickly and it is probably the hardest shot you can take of these cute, smelly animals.
Since, I am also driving the zodiac and somehow attempting to take photos of these animals in this state makes taking this shot even more difficult. As it does happen incredibly quickly and they are constantly moving under the water in between leaps, as well as, changing direction too, which makes it insanely difficult. Well, that is my excuse and I am sticking to it... At the end of the day I basically get shots that look like this. That are somewhat disappointing to say the least.

Well, I am off down south as of tomorrow - I hope and get another few opportunities to take the one shot that has eluded me for over 2 months!! Wish me luck, Steemians!

Penguins are the dopest creatures on this planet!
What about using a drone like Hover Camera passport .Since the drone is hands-free,autopilot with a panoramic feature maybe it could help you capture that elusive shot while manning the zodiac.I have never used it before though am planning on getting one.
a drone would be amazing to use - however, there are incredibly strict guidelines and permits required to use them in Antarctica
Best of luck getting that lucky shot. Penguins are adorable little creatures.
thanks! I shall be posting some if I do, for sure
Haha cute! I suppose they head dive, looks so strange :P What awesome bird friends we have :)
they do jump and dive head first, which is funny to watch.
Good luck! Hope you get the shot you want :) and have an amazing trip!
