Sunday Luxcore announced a mandatory upgrade to version 5.2.5. Although this may have caught some people off guard, the short turnaround for the protocol-enforced fork at block 465000 resulted from a unanimous decision by the core team as well as community leaders.
Last week three team members discovered what seemed to be possible malicious activity on the chain. Over a sufficient and expedient period of time the entire team closely monitored the situation until the activity was confirmed.
A patch was proposed by one of the core developers and immediately followed up by rigorous testing with the entire team. Once a consensus was established that the patch was a success, it was quickly implemented.
Luxcore apologizes for the inconvenience that the short noticed upgrade may have caused. Ample time is always given before any mandatory upgrade; however, maintaining the security and the safety of the chain is always the first priority.
