What are the assets of Steemit Inc ?

in #ma4 years ago (edited)

So we all know that the company behind the Steem blockchain and few portals are now acquired by a "Tron Foundation" (?). But what exactly are the assets involved in the transaction ?

What is NOT involved

Definitely the stake owned by the STEEM holders and the governance model which the informed stake holders have agreed is not sold. This means Steem blockchain will remain a decentralized chain & continue to evolve as envisioned by the community. Steem Proposal System (SPS) can be used by the community to decide which features and functionalities are to be developed.

The witnesses must be the gate keepers and ensure that the bare minimum properties of the blockchain which are using DPoS for consensus, decentralized public ledger, censorship resistance, ability to issue Tokens (SMTs) and on going community and eco-system development.

Trademarks

Its interesting to note that the name or symobole STEEM is trademarked and probably STEEM is now owned by some entity other than Steemit Inc !

Its very interesting to note that the tagline / work-mark "The blockchain of Opportunities" was filed for registration in 2018 and then abandoned.

Legal Entities

The below seems to be a list of legal entities

Copyrights

This is an interesting area. The "Intellectual Property" is not registered for patents from what I know of but the code its is copy righted to various organizations.

What is the license of FC library ?

https://github.com/steemit/steem/tree/master/libraries/fc - This library is originated from Cryptomex Inc ( https://github.com/cryptonomex/fc ) and even before that its an MIT licensed project from Dan Larimer as per Gihub history.

The license clearly says "Copyright (c) 2010 Respective Authors" -- so what is the license of the FC library and to whom the copy rights belong now ?

You must have stumbled onto more fact that prove steemit and steem is not "DECENTRALIZED" wait till the court case is over. He he

This is very interesting:
"Definitely the stake owned by the STEEM holders and the governance model which the informed stake holders have agreed is not sold."

Do you think Sun believes he bought Steemit, but not Steem? As the purportedly, largest holder of Steem, is that good or bad? Watching closely, thank you for the post.

IMHO the branding of Steem and Steemit is very confusing and it combined with the large ninja mined stake may make anyone think they can control everything steem. Graphene chains have given emphasis on governance from day one. The philosophy is quite difficult for those who are new to the platform to understand.

As the purportedly, largest holder of Steem, is that good or bad?

We don't have smart contracts enforcing various promises put forth by the white papers, roadmaps etc. Beyond few basic structures and social "honour" contracts there is no enforcement. How new stake holder(s) will use is thus completely upto them. I said holder(s) and not just holder as TRON foundation may have some voting and decision making process of its own. I have no idea how TRON (foundation) operates.
