ORCHID
Hello everybody, today, I will share a photo I took in a park near my school. this photo is a beautiful orchid photo. I took this photo in a pretty bright daylight. This orchid belongs to the oncidium orchid species.
Oncidium comes from Greek which means solid fare. characteristic of orchid oncidium is its lip section is larger than the ornament of other flowers such as sepal and petal.
Oncidium Orchid Characteristics:
Pseudobulb and Leaf Form
Pseudbulb is often referred to as a bulb only. Bulb on orchids serves as a place to store food and water. This is the uniqueness of the stem shape in each orchid plant. Orchids have a variety of rods or bulbs. Oncidium has a bulb of various shapes and sizes with short rhizomes. Character of orchid bulb growth oncidium is very characteristic with the beginning of the appearance of midrib or sheath with small leaves that grow in pairs. The longer the stem will form like a small lump. Next will grow leaves from the top of the bulb. Leaves that grow from bulb shoots can amount to up to four leaves.Flower Shape
Oncidium orchid stalks appear from the armpits or leaves. The shape can be perpendicular, curved, hanging - there is a short and there is a long stem. However, keep in mind that every oncidium orchid bulb only raises the flower stalk once in the flowering cycle. Flower stalks that appear in general amount to one to two.Flower Shape
The oncidium orchid character is easily recognizable by its prominent lip form with the same sepal size but larger petal. With its flower character, oncidium is often also known as The Dancing Lady.
