Maracaibo is a very hot and sunny city. It is actually the hottest city in Venezuela.
Effects of the weather are very noticeable once you interact with a 'maracucho' (our demonym) you can note how our eyes are wide shut because of sunlight, and our humor is aboslutely lively...actually, is very usual to be on the street and see how people yell to eachother, making fun, jesting or just comunicating (yes...we don't mind screaming on public and more likely if it is 2:00pm) all of this due to the high temperatures we're exposed daily.
...But at night some of this things persist, even though temperature decreases, we still beeing very lively and humorous...we're very different from the rest of the people in Venezuela: our dialect, our behavior, our music and our culture.
There's a really ironic slogan of our city that says: 'Maracaibo...tierra del sol amada' which means : 'Maracaibo...land of the loved sun'. I always laugh when i see it on the street or TV commercials and because is obvious that we hate the weather and how strong the sun is.
