Here are today's top stories:

OHIO: Ohio's medical cannabis regulations are being finalized. Under the rules, patients will have to pay an annual $50 registration fee and will be allowed to possess up to a 90-day supply of medicine — or about 8 ounces of flower. However, we're less excited about the impending application and licensing fees in Ohio, which are so steep that they may make entry extremely difficult for cannabis start-ups and entrepreneurs.

NBA: NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said in a recent interview that he doesn't "see the need for any changes" to the league's cannabis policies, despite the dozens of studies indicating that medical cannabis therapies are an effective and safer alternative to opiate-based painkillers. Silver said the patchwork of cannabis laws from state-to-state would make the logistics of MMJ in the NBA too difficult — but we believe players deserve the right to make that call for themselves.

HAWAII: Medical cannabis patients in Hawaii are one step closer to finally gaining access to products from dispensary storefronts, as officials have issued the state's first testing lab license to Steep Hill Hawaii. It's been two years since the state's Medical Marijuana Dispensary program law was first passed, and for many weeks patients and dispensaries have been left waiting for the state to issue a testing lab license so dispensaries can get their products tested.

UTAH: Latest poll results indicate that a supermajority (78 percent) of Utah voters support the medical cannabis legalization initiative that is currently being circulated by advocates in the state. Elected officials and even the LDS Church have come out saying that the initiative is either too broad or that MMJ therapies need to be researched further — so we're very pleased to see that the citizens of Utah are taking matters into their own hands.

Ganjapreneur will do another cannabis news round-up tomorrow: stay tuned!
