Everywhere you turn these days, it seems like someone has a vaporizer in their hand. Some people are trying to quit smoking cigarettes, while others are trying to blow the biggest vapor cloud possible. It almost seems like they happened overnight, but they didn’t. Vaporizers have been around since the beginning of the 21st century. They got more advanced and efficient around 2009. From there on, they kept getting better and better.
A vaporizer pen commonly known as a vape pen, or pen vaporizer is an electric device with the battery on the base and a tank attached on top which vaporizes your materials into vapor for cleaner inhalation. You can vaporize herbs, concentrates, and even liquids or oils. You put your material in the tank or chamber, then activate the battery to he
at up the material to a certain degree, which then causes it to turn to vapor.
Diverse Types of Vape Pens
There are several types of vaporizing pens out there, and it’s important to know what you want to vape. The tank needs to match the material. Also, every battery is not the same, so if you want to vape your materials at a certain temperature to make sure you do not burn them, you need the right kind. Even more important is the chamber or tank a vaporizer has. You will not be able to use dry herbs with liquid tanks or vice versa.
Dry Herb Vaporizer Pens
Vape pen for dry herbs are portable units that are used specifically for herbs. All herbs will have different vaporization temperatures at which they will either turn into vapor or combust into smoke. Thus, temperature control settings are an important feature for herbal devices. It’s important to consider your personal preferences before you buy. Do you want something portable to take out with you, or do you just want something for home use?
How do vape pens work?
Herbal vapes are easy to understand. There is convection- and conduction-based dry herb units. Convection is more of a true vaporizer, turning your herbs into vapor through hot air. Convection helps make the vapor easier on the throat and lungs. Make sure your herbs are ground up when you use them. Set the vape to your desired temperature and wait until it’s ready to use, which usually takes 30 seconds to a minute.
Wax Vape Pens
Wax vaporizers or dab pens vaporize concentrates. Using a dab tool that is usually equipped with the unit, dab some concentrate on the coil or atomizer and dab away. Just like temperature matters for herbal vapes, the coil matters more for concentrate vaporizers pen so you can have better quality vapor.
How do they work?
Dab vaporizers pen can need extra attention, depending on the coil. If it’s a silica wick atomizer, then chances are it will get dull and brittle, causing it to break eventually. Ceramic disc plate atomizers are durable. Take a dab of your concentrates and load it onto the atomizer of your vape pen. Usually wax pens have a temperature control setting too, which you can set to your personal preference, depending on the material you will be vaping
e-Cigarettes
e-Cigarettes, eCigs, or vaporizing pen, are what you see many people blowing huge clouds from. They are usually sweet liquids with a fruity taste and smell. They can sometimes contain nicotine for those trying to make the switch from cigarettes. Sometimes people get powerful vape pens called MODs and mod them up even more to make them even more powerful.
How do they work?
An e-Cigarette works by heating up the e-liquid to a certain temperature. They have a battery which ranges from 300mAh all the way to 3500mAh and even bigger. Personal vaporizer pens have a plethora of atomizer or tank options available it. The better it is, the more efficient it will be. Pour your e-juice or liquid nicotine in there and wait for it to soak into the wick, if it has one.
Specific Vape Pens
Vape pens can be used for single purposes like for e-juice only or can be multi-functional. Multi-function pens generally come with separate chambers to attach. Some don’t even come with removable tanks, but you just use a screen to use wax or other materials.

What is a MOD?
A mod, mech mod, or mechanical mod, as explained above, is a more powerful vaporizing pen compared to everyday personal vaporizers. They can come in vape pen shapes or the size of a thick small box. Features that go into making it more powerful are better chambers or tanks, bigger batteries, efficient airflow, ability to change the voltage and wattage. They generally do not contain any circuity.
The tanks on MODs are usually rebuildable atomizers. What this means is that you can change the components on the inside from the cotton wick of your choosing to different coils with unique designs. Wicks or cotton can be used to drip e-liquid onto. After allowing the liquid to soak in, the coil activates when you press the button to heat up the juice-soaked cotton. This will vaporize the liquid into a thick cloud. You can even dive deeper and decide to use a single coil atomizer or a dual coil atomizer.
Vaporizer Pen Maintenance
Maintenance on these devices is relatively simple. Some may require more attention than others, but overall there is not much to it. However, maintenance and cleaning will be required if you want to keep your pen pristine and working for a long time. Depending on the kind of vape you have, you can either clean the tank with water or use a brush to clean the interior chamber.
If you have a dry herbal vaporizer, use a brush that is usually provided to gently scrub the inside. Do this twice a week to make sure you don’t get any gunk or residue build up. Once it builds up and gets hard, it will be harder to scrub. Make sure you wait until after the device has cooled down before cleaning it. If you have a tank filled with liquid, you can just run it under water to make sure nothing is left. Let it sit and dry before you refill it with your favorite juice. This will make sure you don’t have water in there anymore. If you do, no worries, it will vaporize, but it’s best to ensure you the coils have dried up too.
