New Mexico Decriminalizes Marijuana

in #marijuana5 years ago (edited)

In July New Mexico will become the 24th state to decriminalize marijuana. Which has me wondering, why do so many people still allow the government to make the rules for how they live?

Seriously?
Okay, so back to this decriminalizing business...

The following states have passed laws decriminalizing certain marijuana possession offenses. Decriminalization generally means no arrest, prison time, or "criminal" record for the possession of a small amount of marijuana for "personal consumption" (because lord forbid you are profiting in a way the government isn't regulating, ie stealing a portion of your labor).

In most decriminalized states, these "offenses" are treated like a minor traffic violation. Which, isn't exactly being left alone for utilizing a medicinal plant, now is it? It does seem to be the best option introduced under government rule (that is for those who believe their laws, statutes, codes, somehow apply to them.)

  • These areas legislation "legalized" the adult consumption and personal cultivation of cannabis.

**These states still classify marijuana possession as criminal misdemeanors, but it does not carry a threat of jail time.

*** New Mexico’s law takes effect on July 1, 2019.

For an in-depth explanation of punishments by state head on over the NORML page https://norml.org/aboutmarijuana/item/states-that-have-decriminalized. They have done a great job of organizing the information, although it is pitched from a statist perspective.

All of this I suppose is at least moving in a good direction for the humans who believe government somehow has the authority to tell them what they do with a medicinal plant and their own body. I mean aren't you sick of their ever-changing regulations and arbitrary opinions that they force us to abide by at the barrel of a gun?

Why is a plant that has been known to have medicinal properties regulated by the government at all? Are they in charge of your body and your health? Do they own you and your choices? These are the things you are consenting to when you don't question where their authority is derived.

End Rant.
