According to the research firm New Frontier, 2015 was a “watershed year for the legal cannabis market,” with sales growing from $4.6 billion in 2014 to $5.7 billion last year—and the company anticipates a 26 percent increase in 2016, with the market closing the year at $7.1 billion. New Frontier further predicts that by 2020, legal market sales will soar past $22 billion.
Compared with other industries, cannabis is experiencing astronomical growth—surpassing the sales figures for organic foods, craft beer and hybrid vehicles. And if you ask Americans if they think marijuana should be legal, a resounding 56 percent say “yes,” according to the most recent CBS poll.
