The thought police are skilled at creating prisons for the mind.

Both the FTC and SEC could create big hassles for the Hive Community. The SEC could claim that HIVE created a security without if they launched investigations into the platform. The SEC could charge HIVE for creating a security without a brokerage license and heap the blockchain with fines that it could not pay. The FTC could claim that, since people get paid on HIVE, that the platform is violating sacred trade and communication laws.

The first step in standing against the thought-police-state is recognizing that the rules the feds have created in the name of protecting the people are actually used to control our ability to communicate.

The funny thing, the FTC and SEC are not that good at stopping spam nor are they that good at stopping fraud.

I should add ... it is amazing how good the FTC is at silencing people. The very hint of an FTC investigation is usually enough to get people to isolate and cancel merchants or affiliate web sites.

Nah, Dan knows his way around securities law.
They could make problems when we try to get into fiat, but there would be a big pushback on it.
