This was a lesson I missed when I was married. I devoted myself as a father, reading books and seeking to be an amazing Papa. My ex wife and I really did a great job on coming together as co parents and were on the same page as attachment parents that use respect, love and understanding in our parenting. Sadly we forgot to focus enough on our own marriage. I highly recomend striking a balance between the two. My marriage lasted 7 years before it failed but the divorce and now separate parenting is in a good place where we both put the children first. We were good at that. Now that I'm single and have 3 wonderful children I am taking the time to read about relationships and how to do it right next time. I truly agree with the OP's message.
