Why Have A Masquarade?

“Hide your face so the world can never find you”
- Phantom Of The Opera (Lyrics)

A mask is an object normally worn on the face, typically for protection, disguise, performance, or entertainment, and often employed for rituals and rites. Masks have been used since antiquity for both ceremonial and practical purposes, as well as in the performing arts and for entertainment. They are usually worn on the face, although they may also be positioned for effect elsewhere on the wearer's body.

Masquarades are a party or dance where people wear masks coverings over part or all of the face or other disguises clothes that hide who you are or make you look like someone else. And that is the dream right? Outside of religious spirits and tradition regarding masks, masks were used a lot in parties, balls or celebrations in the past to keep remove everyone of their social titles so they could enjoy the party together! They were no more the noble or the poor servant or carriage driver, only participants of the ball you could fall for in one night. For one night you could be anyone. This allowed lot's of freedom and forbidden loves back then. If done correctly nowadays, perhaps we can bring on the same sentiment.

So how to orchestrate a Masquarade? i will be basing myself on the Masquarade that we had last month in New York for the Phantom of the Opera play. Their invitations were very immersive and the play happend among the participants who also had to come with masks and formal attire. As they said "Hide your face: Guests must wear formal or cocktail attire in a pre determined set of colors or a combination thereof." It's also important that everyone wears a mask even if they forgot or couldn't provide one so "Guests are encouraged to wear their own masquerade mask that celebrates the occasion and reflects personal style. If you don’t have one, we’ll provide a complimentary, glasses-compatible mask on arrival." There should also be a designated space for taking pictures and videos but the main ballroom should be for enjoyment and memories of the night. No phones. To make it even more mystical and secret society like, instead of having tickets why not having a secret password for the invited? The night demands extravagant attire. So we can celebrate in a more mystical way, only formal or cocktail attire, without stilettos, wear shoes and clothing you can move in. Share accessibility details with the guests of the place where the masquerade will be held.

Speaking of place, you should pick a huge place, and i'm assuming you either have some money or combine a fair price for the guests to contribute to the renting, decorations, buffet and staff to organize and set things up. If it's your first time preparing and you have some money, it would be best to work with a party organizer.

It might sound insane, but it could be an out of world night. The only one in your life. It's worth the experience.
