For those who may have missed it, I've created https://decentmemes.com
The current idea behind it is to upload meme templates, both as images and gifs that let you add text of your own to make them unique.
The images are hosted on peakd/hive.blog and can easily be generated using the widget, currently on @ecency / @peakd / https://scrobble.life and hopefully more in the future.
You have to upload the templates on https://decentmemes.com/submit/ first however. To prevent spam/flooding we've gatekept the submission to 1 template per day per account over 60 rep, if you wanna upload more than 1 per day, you need to burn 1 Hive.
When submitting you also choose if it's an original template you've created or if you found it somewhere, this sends a small portion of beneficiaries to a holding account in case the original owner wants to claim the outstanding rewards. If it's fully original, the rewards go fully to you. You still get a % simply for uploading a template however even if it's not yours.
When users use the templates in comments/posts through the frontends, a beneficiary % is automatically set to the template uploaders.
This means that the popular your template is, the more passive rewards you can potentially earn over time if people keep using it.
Right now, however, barely anyone is even uploading templates.
So for this contest, I'll be sending all author rewards to @commentrewarder and upvote people submitting meme templates and using them in the comment section!
The funniest/best used ones get the bigger votes which means you'll get most of the rewards of this post.

Not sure. I tried making some snaps in the past. But I think that my long form content gets more attention in both comments and rewards. So I kinda lost interest in snaps.😛 But maybe I should return to making snaps as well.

Generating via AI is acceptable, right? Just to make sure. And what if I want to try more with the meme stuff, do I have to burn 1Hive after the first free use?
We prefer to keep AI submissions low but if you're using images/character as references then keep it as not-original, if you're using AI to create new characters then feel free to tag it as original.

Usually I am not many into memes, but I know that it is a big thing for some users! That is a good idea. Well, I tested, but I think I just uploaded an image hehe. Need to study more how to do a meme.

You can also just upload templates from the internet as long as you don't tag it as "original content", it's fine!

It is a template from the site.
But the text wasn't added from there , I didn't see an option from there to add meme text . Also I tried uploading a template but it wasn't submitting (maybe I'm doing something wrong)
I encountered an issue while trying to submit yesterday, too. I tried a couple of times, but got the timeout error while trying to submit via keychain @acidyo
It's on @peakd and @ecency as a widget, clicking on the "gif" and then the decentmemes tab.

Using peakd. On the comment section of this post, you'll see gif, click on it and between the two source , select Decentmemes and use any of the templates there to reply to this post

Are you trying to add more than 1 per day? We have a cost if youre trying to add more which is to burn 1 hive per additional upload. Maybe that's the error, if not I'll take a deeper look.
