It's called progress. When we were young, we thought we were evolving in an evolutionary improvement program :) somehow we thought prehistoric humans were lesser in intelligence because they were prehistory and precivilisation. We revere the past, somewhat ironically, while undervaluing native culture in every developed society, and strive towards a future that is less and less connected to our humanity. What will we become? Arms attached to a brain, eyes fixed on a computer screen, our only interaction occurring in the virtual world. Why? In the drive for financial stability? When everything we need is found in the world around us, including food, company, shelter - we just need to expend the energy to find it, but somehow we think we can short-circuit that by using our brains to skip light years ahead on our self-appointed quest, missing out on life in the meantime. And we tell ourselves it's for the benefit of those around us. We're just on a trajectory to fulfil our destinies...

Very True. And now when we die they will upload our entire brain onto the cloud so we can live forever.
