RE: Memoir Monday #25 (8/26-9/1) - Have you ever lost a friendship that meant a lot to you?

in #memoirmonday2 years ago

I must admit it: I am a person with very few friends, but the ones I have are the best. The political situation of the country has caused friendship relationships of years to break in a second. In that sense, I believe that they are not real friendships if they are broken because of political stupidities. I have Chavista friends who know my position and respect it and vice versa.
As I was reading your post, I was remembering my friends from school, high school and college. As in your case, some friendships were lost with time, maturity. I remember one time I was on public transportation and a fat, dark-haired girl with a little girl called me by my name. I turned around and didn't know who she was. She told me her name, but I still did not recognize her, however I made the gesture that I remembered. I asked her something like this, how are you, what has become of your life. The girl told me she had three daughters and was divorced. When we finished talking, I heard her say quietly to the girl, “She was my best friend in school.” I still don't know who she was.
It will be a pleasure to talk about this topic this Monday, Eric. I hope you are well. A big hug from this sea.

I've always had just a handful of close friends too. The political divisiveness you describe has descended on this country as well. Quite a few friends and relatives have turned against each other in America because of politics. They call it a "cold civil war". Could that encounter on the bus be a case of mistaken identity on her part? Thank you Nancy! I hope you've had a wonderful week!

No, because he called me by name and among the things he told me was that he had heard about my father's death. I am a myopic person and sometimes I don't see well, I am also very distracted. Maybe that's why. Or because in school my family and I helped many girls with clothes, food and supplies. Suddenly she saw me as a friend because I helped her. I don't know. Now you got me thinking about it. hahahaha.
Well, it's Thursday, it's very sunny, hot, but I'm fine. I send you a big hug, Eric.

I can relate. Sometimes I'm lost in my imagination half the time. Lol. I'm glad you had a good week! We're having a heat wave here. It's Mother Nature's last blast of hot air before things really start to cool off. Enjoy your Sunday, Nancy! Take care.
