gopher,usenet,telnet, andslip/ppp.My favorite was SLiRP since you could get SLIP, PPP and even CSLIP (amazing compressed headers!) with only shell access!
oh man, flashbacks. slip/ppp was a major pain in the ass for me i remember trying to dial in to things, we had that modem to isdn lines transition i learned far too much about adsl.. . ;)
