Hi There!

Welcome to the second part of my 11 tricks to step out of the negative thinking pattern.

If you missed part 1, here we go: part one

So let´s go on with some of my favourite ways to step out of the negative chatter:

6 Yoga Nidra

Vorlage-Beitragsbilder-BLOG-9.png

Yoga-Nidra is a beautiful method of deep relaxation where you are neither asleep nor awake.

You are right between these stages, which leads to the body, mind and soul experiencing deep relaxation.

Highly recommended. 😃

You will feel wonderfully rested and clear-headed after a busy day.

Instead of doing physical exercises, as is usually the case with yoga, you simply lie flat on your back on a soft surface, place a flat pillow under your head if necessary and you can cover yourself with a blanket. Close your eyes and enjoy.

I have been using a guided yoga nidra recording, the speaker has a very pleasant voice, for several years now. It lasts about half an hour.

You can find a lot of beautiful Yoga Nidra deep relaxations on YouTube. Just go and find one which suits you best.

Try it out today. (but never while driving or doing anything that requires your full attention of course 😉).

7 Binaural beats

Vorlage-Beitragsbilder-BLOG-11.png

Binaural beats were discovered as early as 1839 by the physicist Heinrich Wilhelm Dove.

They are supposed to influence the brain by sending similar but slightly different sound frequencies to the right and left ear via headphones. Your brain then compensates for this difference. This stimulates certain brain waves.

There are binaural beats that have a relaxing effect on you and also some that make you more awake.

For this reason, you will find binaural beats not only for stress management, but also often under music for concentration, e.g. for learning. I am listening to one of my favorite focus beats right now while writing this post for you.

These sounds are an ingenious way to lift your mood and to get out of the negative thought carousel in a gentle way.

Science is not yet completely sure whether binaural beats actually have an effect - I can only say that I enjoy these sounds regularly, because they are simply doing very good.

So also, if it should only be a placebo effect - it is worthwhile to listen in.

You should enjoy these sounds through headphones and take a relaxed sitting or lying position. (but not while driving or doing anything that requires your full attention).

Here are some nice tracks for you (Youtube links). I really love hearing them from the first second on, feeling relief on a stressful or unhappy day:

Happiness Frequency

Let go of fears, worries

So, all you need now is a pair of headphones and you're good to go! I have one that hugs the ears nicely - especially handy for blocking out ambient noise, and the ear cups are nice and soft to wear.

If you don't want to listen to binaural beats, then you'll find another wonderful musical alternative in the last point of this post.

*******IMPORTANT - PLEASE NOTE:*******

In general, binaural beats are harmless. Due to their influence on brain waves, listening to them is not possible for people suffering from epilepsy, heart disease, stroke or whose doctor has said something about a danger from binaural beats.

If you are not sure whether you can listen to binaural beats, please consult your doctor first.

8 Your five senses

To calm yourself down in very stressful phases, you can bring yourself back to the here and now with the following exercise.

Away from what scares you, back to the present.

This happens by consciously noticing your 5 senses:

Sit quietly.

Look around and notice the following:

5 things you can see: Your hands, the carpet, the sky, the keyboard, a tree.

4 things you can physically feel: Your feet on the floor, your hair resting on your shoulder, the pillow your head is leaning against, the cup in your hand.

3 things you can hear: the birds chirping, the sound of the washing machine, snatches of conversation from outside.

2 things you can smell: Tea, perfume

Something you can taste: take a sip of water, eat a piece of fruit (or chocolate..😇), etc.

You now made a conscious cut.

By focusing on your senses, you can no longer brood at that moment.

Congratulations! You have successfully interrupted the monkey mind.

Setz Dich ruhig hin.

So, as this is already becoming a novel again 😄- I must admit that part one of this post was very, very long....I know, I will make a cut again here and you will find a third part shortly.
