Hello guys, hope you're having great Christmas.
My name is Andrés, i'm new to the Steemit platform so yea, i'm testing this out.
I feel this is supposed to be about "Writing" or blogging. Something like that. And i was thinking, "hey, how can i start doing this?"
Well, i saw a post about "Xmas and poberty" something about phillipines and i felt like, dude... People around the world, have serious issues, this is just wrong.
Ok, so an idea popped up in my mind.
"Why not talking about my country?" Yes, i'm from Venezuela.
So here i am. I'm not writing this for you to feel sad about us, or even have your "comprehension", no. I'm just typing this because i feel so overwhelmed about this, so powerless and so frustrated, that i don't know what else to do or think about.
Anyway, lets keep going.
You're not going to read this in "News" or Media, because it's all censored.
So i wanna talk to you about how beautiful my country is.
Venezuela is the typical caribbean country, surrounded by beautiful women (Men are ok too tho :V ), ashtonishing beaches, weird but delicious food, a BUNCH of plants and animals you've never seen.
Summary: Imagine Titanic, but the drowning passangers laughing. Yea, that's pretty much it. Because we're funny people and we make a joke out of EVERYTHING if you have a venezuelan friend, then you know how funny that guy is. (Even the Jack and Rose scene) something like this
"Jack: Save yourself im good here in the cold water
Rose: Are you stupid or just dumb? Get on this table before i go into that water and kick the cold ghost out of you".
Venezuelan girls... Ahhh, simply magnificent, how can't you love them? lol.
Milka Dunno
Gaby Espino
Sascha Barboza (Sascha Fitness) [Middle one]
and many others...
Let's keep going.
Also, we're party people. Like, really party monsters. Which is cool, because you can ALWAYS count on us if you need a drink partner.
Like seriously, we do love hanging out.
We love helping others, even tho it's not possible anymore here in my country.
Ok...
Let's get to what we came for.
What's the problem then? Sounds like a cool country tho.
Alright, first of all.
1,24$ Minmun wage a month.
No, i'm not kidding, i'm not joking, 1,24$ a MONTH. <--- Yes, a month.
Perhaps, money isn't it all.
Food might be. You can't buy food for yourself in a whole month, but wait, there's more. You still have to pay your children's food, children's scholarship, even maybe your own studies, also you have to pay transportation and hey you know your rent and stuff.
This Christmas, was unlike any other, i saw sad families, i sad people not eating the traditional "Hallaca" which is basically a pork(can be meat or beans, whatever tho) tamal or something like that.
I saw people looking in to the trash bags outside across the street (because we have no trash cans here) trying to get some food to eat this Christmas, no family, no money, no happiness at all. Is this what, Christmas is about?
Even life?
And... Children.
(No more images about this, i know this may bother few ones).
Insecurity? You just can't go outside without the fear of some 14yo kid with a gun, killing you because of your cellphone or whatever, actually. Murder in here is pretty normal. And cops work for money, wherever it comes from, no pride or honor at all. So... Don't worry about them, they'll put your corpse into the porks pit so they'll never find you again (Yes, this is a method proven and used here by the cop corps).
Or maybe, being kidnapped, that's another "common stuff" here. (By cops/guards/ and mafias too by the way)
Young people is suffering, we fought, we screamed, we laughed and cried... Over our friend's dead bodies, yes, we saw them die. Luckily, i wasn't one of those, because those deaths, weren't worth it, at all.
Does this look like "happy people" to you?
Also... Many of us, life savers, have fallen.
Yea guys, this is one, among MANY victims, he was 2 months away of graduating as a "doctor" . He can't do that anymore.
He fought, helping others, even tho, no one could help him.
During his funeral, the university president, put his degree over his coffin with a medal.
Let's move on...
The "opposition" which is basically supposed to protect the 80%(probably more) of the population in Venezuela (blue side), negotiated our words, hope and dreams. Even our blood, with this "government" (if we can call it like that), over a little bit of power and few dollars. That's it.
There are children that can't eat this xmas, separated families because we must migrate to other countries in order to survive and even "do something good" for our families, that at the end of the year, you can't hug your family and be together, even tho, not know if you are going to have another xmas alongside them.
Right now, my country is just overwhelmed, just like me, just how i feel. I don't wanna talk about everyone when i say this, but at least 80% of people, i'm pretty sure will aggree with me.
Thanks for reading guys, this helped me like a lot.
At the end of the day, it was our fault.
We didn't see the huge monster coming up the hill, once we noticed, it was already too late.
If you like the post, rate it, comment and tell me what do you think, if you want me to keep posting stuff like this or should i change the topics.
If there's anything you'd like to donate, seriously, whatever it is. So i can help at least few people this Christmas and get them some food (yes, myself too) I couldn't thank you enough.

This was the first steemit post I read and I have to say, it warms my heart to know that the steemit community is directly influencing change! @bijoy123
It is mad what is happening right next to us while we stay blind and ignorant. It's time we unite and protect each other. Share and be grateful for every little thing. I wish you to become a whale on Steemit so you can help others, even just one person.
Nice intro ! Welcome to the community !! Happy steeming !!!
