Hey everyone!
So I haven't been posting for a while and again the longer that passed the harder it felt too come up with something post-worthy. I've also been busy lately since I had a project I had to get ready last week and I was sick for almost two weeks with the flu so it was a little harder to put in the work needed. I did however learn a lot from this project and wanted to share what it was about and also to tell about this great platform I was using(other than Steemit😄).
The project was to make a web application and that was pretty much all the directions we received. Our teacher did however recommend a couple of things to help us get started.
One of them being Meteor.

If you haven't heard of it, Meteor is a platform that let's you create JavaScript applications fairly easily with a lot of tutorials online. I chose to go with Meteor because it is easily installed and used. You simply install it on your computer and you're ready to go.
Only downside I could notice there was that Meteor was kind of hard to get working on Windows and I had a lot of different issues when I tried. This was however easily fixed by installing Linux on a Virtual Machine and working from there. It integrates with MongoDB for databases. On the client, Meteor can be used with their own Blaze framework as well as with Angular and React.

After searching through Google for a while for which one I should start learning I finally decided on React and I am pretty happy with my choice. I am definitely going to continue advancing my skills in React.
I really recommend checking out Meteor if you're new to developing web applications like me and want to learn. You can go straight to their website by clicking HERE!
The web application I created was mainly to learn and to get a good grade so it wasn't really something I needed or wanted to use so I never deployed it anywhere. I kinda feel like when I do finally deploy something I want it to be something I am really proud of. I have already started on a new project for myself and I will be working with that now.
It is really impressive what you can do with Meteor and I would recommend to do the tutorials they have just to see the powers of it.
I will be here on Steemit the coming days and I will also be having a small competition here soon so lookout for that!
I hope everyone is well and have a great coming week!
Over and out,
I was wondering when you'd post again! It's been quite awhile since I've seen you around. Hope you're feeling better and that everything is going well, man. If I ever get interested in creating web apps then I'll definitely keep this in mind and come back back to it, by the way :)
Yeah it really has been a while since I posted. Feels really good to be back though.
Do that, it really is a great way to get started if you're ever interested :)
This is such a cool article introducing us to these two sites to allow us to learn and grow in our developing potential. Thank you1
I already look forward to seeing the results of your proud project... Namaste :)
Thank you :) I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Seems I found my duplicate online, just read the post and it is quite interesting, actually wanted to go into web designing, only familiarize myself with html coding, couldn't advance further due to limited resources back then but would like to follow you and see how it all turns out hope I add to my knowledge from your write-up.
By the way you watch only the anime or read the manga like me lol.
Haha yeah :D thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I will follow you and look for your posts in the future.
Take care :)
Welcome back!
Hope you can use some new found coding knowledge on some Steem applications soon! :)
Absolutely. I am trying to learn everything as fast as possible so I can get started on something. :) have a lot of great ideas already. :)
And thanks! Feels good to be back
cool you are looking at some web applications. i've been wanting to carve some time to do something similar but tbh i don't know where to start. i'm considering doing mockups in sketch to start with and then work back from there.
Yeah I am finding it more and more interesting the more I get into it. You should check out Meteor and they're Youtube tutorials. They have some great beginner ones that explain everything in a simple way :)
hey @strawhat welcome back,i hope you doing well, thanks for the good sharing
all the best
Thank you :) glad to be back!
same to you
This is such a cool article .... :)
I had tried using Meteor before jumping into React. Meteor is good in some usecase but desn't shine like React, which is good as 'view' library. As a whole, React stack is amazing. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for reading :) I also found React to be really amazing.
Great to see you back and nice post thanks for sharing this :) looking forward to more such
Thank you! :)
ahh neat coding tools! I know basic HTML, but that's about it :P
Thanks :) you have to start somewhere :D
Thanks for useful information, i Must to look that.
@strawhat welcome back to steemit, nice post giving us
thanks for useful information......
Thank you!
Feels good to be back
so nice blog
I never learned how to actually program. I tried different times to learn although. At least, this experiences gave me the ability to read a code and understand what's going on.
I used Meteor to develop a very basic MVP of an Instagramm like platform for a friend. I loved Meteor. I had worked with different languages and frameworks before like Ruby, PHP, Wordpress, Code Igniter, Cake PHP, Vue and Meteor was the best.
I think the code is super clean and simplified. I love how node apps reload itself whenever you change a file in the app folder.
Anyway, I'm not a programmer so this is a vision of someone outside of this knowledge.
