As an aspiring producer or musician you may or may not, have the funds to dish out for pinnacle gear being touted as the industry standard, but it's good to know there are affordable options which can still give similarly close results.
Here are two underdogs I believe give good results and are worthy of your attention.
Pyle PDMIC78
As you can probably tell, this instrument mic has the likeness of the Shure SM57 and sounds very similar, with the main difference residing in top end frequencies. Kudos to Pyle for making its enclosure metal, having a $10- $12 price tag means they could have easily chosen plastic.
Neewer NW-800
I dare you to find a Condenser mic cheaper than the Neewer NW-800 which sounds just as good. While not having a metal construction may count as a shortcoming, included cable, shock mount and sponge pop filter is a good way to help make amends for it.
The versatility of having the smoothness of condenser mic in your mix is always a plus, whether standing as your main mic for vocals or lending additional depth when recording instruments, it certainly doesn't look or sound out of place in the studio, and your clients need not be the wiser.
