The Hero?
No one really knows where he came from. He grew like mushrooms in the garden, practically overnight.
Until recent, no one knew about him, but today he is in the Top 5 of the most famous argentines, fighting for his place between Pope Francis and Lionel Messi.
He put together, with nothing, a political party that no one gave much credence to, called "La Libertad Avanza" (LLA), Freedom Advances. However, when the primary elections came, it prevailed as the third political force, very close to the other two forces.
His enormous knowledge of economy, not only in Argentina but worldwide, surprised and convinced the most incredulous voters. He was the strongest and most credible candidate in the presidential debates and thus, building alliances with “Juntos Por El Cambio”, a center-right party, he won the presidential elections against the candidate and last Minister of Economy of President Alberto Fernández, Sergio Tomás Massa.
And so, Javier Milei became the new president of the Argentines in December 2023, against all odds.
His style, frontal, aggressive and politically incorrect, has aroused interest in a large part of the political arc, opposed to the recently overthrown Kirchnerism, which he tired of denouncing throughout his campaign.
He promised many things that seemed impossible to fulfill. Their main interest is to reduce the State to a minimum, abolishing privileges entrenched in the state apparatus. He closed ministries and secretariats. He cut advisers, airfare, official cars, cell phones.
His weapon is the chainsaw, a metaphor he uses ad nauseam, to show that his cuts will be relentless and perhaps unorthodox. His vast knowledge of free-market economics makes anyone who dares to argue the numbers shudder. He has an encyclopedic memory that includes a lot of statistical data from which he remembers his source. It's impossible to watch him lose a battle.
He hates Communism. He loves capitalism and wants to re-wield the values of freedom that made Argentina one of the five world powers a hundred years ago. He promises to get his country back on its feet after nearly 70 years of populism that left the country with half its population poor.
He has won the support and sympathy of the leaders of countries in the free world. In some countries he is branded a hero despite his few days in office. But the measures adopted at the beginning of his administration were mainly aimed at curbing the inflationary escalation that was yielding alarming rates of more than twenty percent per month.
With the first measures adopted, default was avoided and savings of around seven billion dollars were obtained. These are good indicators for international entities that are used to lending money, such as the International Monetary Fund and countries looking to place their investments. Argentina is beginning to signal to the world that it is a serious country again.
They called him crazy, old-fashioned. Even violent. But people understand that Argentines come from years of waste that increasingly generates an increase in the number of poor people and the only ones who are not reached by the adjustments that are coming are the political class that the president contemptuously calls "Caste" and for which he is in permanent struggle and intends to eradicate.
His physical appearance has several aspects that make him like the figure of a leader. With a fair complexion and light blue eyes, he is a little far from the stereotype of the average Argentine. His hair is long, unneatly combed by Aeoly, the God of the Wind, as he often says. He wears long sideburns that could imitate the provincial caudillos of the nineteenth century, although also when he wears his leather jacket, it places him at the height of a Rock Star, which he loves and his followers too.
His time in football contributes a lot to the construction of his image. He was a goalkeeper in the senior squad of Chacarita Juniors, which strengthens his profile as a savior of the homeland.
He's a bit narcissistic and haughty. It has a habit of discrediting and destroying any political opponent, without measuring the consequences. He attacks with low blows and even with false information, in an "anything goes" that after the damage and achieved his goal of getting him out of the way, he tries to redeem.
He did it with Patricia Bullrich political opponent from Juntos por el Cambio, in the Primary Election, whom he branded as a Montonera terrorist, who in her youth planted bombs in kindergartens, and later apologized and appointed her Minister of Security in his government.
The things he came to say about Pope Francis, and then visited the Vatican and got confused in an embrace.
It has a very clear objective. To recover Argentina from the current one hundred and forty position in the ranking of countries and take it to the top 10 in a span of thirty-five years.
His enormous willpower, his spirit of sacrifice and his courage to overcome the trials he faces daily to achieve justice or obtain a higher welfare, make him find more people who love him and more people who hate him day after day.
Disarming almost century-old structures, eliminating state employees who are paid without working, suppressing assistance plans for people who fly abroad, forcing unions to hold free elections, are some of the measures that please many and make a few uncomfortable, especially those he contemptuously calls "The Political Caste."
Pickets were ordered, which caused so many inconveniences to people, especially those who moved through the streets of the center of Buenos Aires to go to work. You can't block the street, which seems logical but hasn't been done for years.
Protesters who miss work will have their day deducted. Unions or social organizations that block the streets will be presented with a bill for the cost of the security operation that requires the presence of police forces to allow free transit.
56.6% of society voted for this change.
Time will tell if the new president Javier Gerardo Milei will become a National Hero.
Everything will depend, to a large extent, on his ability to achieve the goal he has set for himself and that goes beyond saving the day or saving someone. Here it is a question of a higher objective, an extraordinary objective, which, due to the magnitude of the inherited mess, seems to have the size of a true epic feat. That of saving an entire country.

Nadie sabe bien de donde vino. Creció como los hongos en el jardín, prácticamente de la noche a la mañana._
Hasta hace poco nadie lo conocía, pero hoy está en el Top 5 de los argentinos más famosos, peleando su lugar entre el Papa Francisco y Lionel Messi.
Armó, con nada, un partido político al que nadie daba demasiado crédito, llamado "La Libertad Avanza" (LLA). Sin embargo, cuando llegaron las elecciones primarias, se impuso como tercera fuerza política.
Su enorme conocimiento de la economía, no solo Argentina sino mundial, sorprendía y convencía a los más incrédulos electores. Fue el candidato más sólido y más creíble en los debates presidenciales y así, armando alianzas con Juntos Por el Cambio, ganó las elecciones presidenciales contra el candidato y último Ministro de Economía del presidente Alberto Fernández, Sergio Tomás Massa.
Y así, Javier Milei se convirtió en el nuevo presidente de los argentinos en diciembre de 2023, contra todos los pronósticos.
Su estilo, frontal, agresivo y políticamente incorrecto, ha despertado interés en gran parte del arco político, opositor al recientemente derrocado Kirchnerismo, del que se cansó de denostar durante toda su campaña.
Prometió muchas cosas que parecían imposibles llegar a cumplir. Su principal interés está puesto achicar el Estado a una mínima expresión, suprimiendo privilegios enquistados en el aparato estatal. Cerró ministerios y secretarías. Recortó asesores, pasajes aéreos, autos oficiales, celulares.
Su arma es la motosierra, metáfora que utiliza hasta el cansancio, para graficar que sus recortes serán implacables y tal vez poco ortodoxos. Su vasto conocimiento sobre la economía de libre mercado hace temblar a cualquiera que se le atreva a discutir los números. Tiene una memoria enciclopédica que incluyen gran cantidad de datos estadísticos de las que recuerda su fuente. Es imposible verlo perder una batalla.
Odia a los comunistas y se los dice en la cara. Ama el Capitalismo y quiere volver a esgrimir los valores de la libertad que hicieron a la Argentina una de las cinco potencias mundiales hace cien años. Promete volver a poner su país de pie después de casi setenta años de populismo que dejó al país con la mitad de su población pobre.
Se ha granjeado el apoyo y la simpatía de los líderes de países del mundo libre. En algunos países lo tildan de Héroe a pesar de sus pocos días de gobierno. Pero las medidas adoptadas al comenzar su gestión, fueron principalmente encaminadas a frenar la escalada inflacionaria que arrojaba índices alarmantes superiores al veinte por ciento mensual.
Con las primeras medidas adoptadas se evitó el default y se obtuvo un ahorro de alrededor de siete mil millones de dólares. Estos son buenos indicadores para los entes internacionales que acostumbran a prestarnos dinero, como el Fondo Monetario Internacional y países que buscan colocar sus inversiones. Argentina comienza a dar señales al mundo de ser un país serio nuevamente.
Lo tildaron de loco, de trasnochado. Hasta de violento. Pero la gente entiende que venimos de años de despilfarro que cada vez más genera un incremento de pobres y los únicos que no son alcanzados por los ajustes que llegan son la clase política al que el presidente llama despectivamente "Casta" y por la que está en permanente lucha y pretende erradicar.
Su aspecto físico tiene varios aspectos que lo van conformando coma la figura de un líder. De tez blanca y ojos celestes, se aleja un poco del estereotipo del argentino promedio. Lleva el pelo largo, desprolijamente peinado por Eolio -el Dios del Viento-, como él suele decir. Lleva patillas largas que podrían imitar a los caudillos provinciales del siglo diecinueve, aunque también cuando viste su campera de cuero, lo ubica a la altura de un Rock Star, cosa que le encanta y a sus seguidores también.
Su paso por el fútbol aporta mucho al armado de su imagen. Fue arquero en el plantel superior de Chacarita Juniors, lo que fortalece su perfil de salvador de la patria.
Es un poco narcisista y altanero. Tiene la costumbre de desacreditar y destruir a todo adversario político, sin medir las consecuencias. Ataca con golpes bajos y hasta con información falsa, en un "vale todo" que después del daño y logrado su objetivo de quitarlo del camino, intenta redimir.
Lo hizo con Patricia Bullrich, a quien tildó de terrorista Montonera, que en su juventud ponía bombas en los Jardines de Infantes, para después disculparse y nombrarla Ministra de Seguridad de su gobierno.
Las cosas que llegó a decir del Papa Francisco, para después visitar el Vaticano y confundirse en un abrazo.
Tiene un objetivo bien claro. Recuperar a la Argentina del actual puesto ciento cuarenta del ranking de países y llevarlo entre los 10 primeros en un lapso de treinta y cinco años.
Su enorme fuerza de voluntad, su espíritu de sacrificio y su valía para superar las pruebas que enfrenta a diario para llegar a impartir justicia u obtener un bienestar superior, hacen que día tras día encuentre más gente que lo quiera y más gente que lo odie.
Desarmar estructuras casi centenarias, eliminar empleados del Estado que cobran sin trabajar, suprimir planes de asistencia a personas que realizan vuelos al exterior, obligar a los sindicatos a mantener elecciones libres, son algunas de las medidas que agradan a muchos e incomodan o unos pocos, en especial a los que él llama despectivamente "La Casta Política".
Se ordenaron los piquetes, que tantos inconvenientes provocaban a la gente, en especial a los que se movían por las calles del centro para ir a sus trabajos. No se puede cortar la calle, cosa, que parece lógica pero que no se cumple desde hace años.
A los manifestantes que falten al trabajo se les descontará el día. A los sindicatos o a las Organizaciones Sociales que corten las calles, se les presentará la factura por el costo del operativo de seguridad que demande la presencia de las fuerzas policiales para permitir el libre transito.
El 56,6% de la sociedad votó este cambio.
El tiempo dirá si el flamante presidente Javier Gerardo Milei se transformará en un Héroe Nacional.
Todo dependerá, en gran medida, de su habilidad para poder lograr el objetivo que se ha fijado y que va más allá de salvar el día o salvar a alguien. Acá se trata de un objetivo superior, un objetivo extraordinario, que por la magnitud del desaguisado heredado, parece tener el tamaño de una verdadera hazaña épica. La de salvar un país entero.
