I just received my USB asic Scrypt miner and have been playing around with it mining various Scrypt coins including litecoin. Stock setting get you around 3mh/s to about 4mhs depending on your setting in bfgminer.

It works with a powered usb hub on windows, linux or mac along with devices such as a low power Rpi as long as you use the powered USB hub. You can overclock up to 6 mhs but I prefer to stay in the stock 3-4 mhs range as overclocking requires more cooling from other fans.

If you mine for a hobby and are not concerned about ROI, this is a great little device that uses less than 8 watts at full force. Some people also use them as a lottery device to try and solo mine a coin they like such as Litecoin. The chances you will get a block solo with this are slim, but that is what makes it fun.

Haha, this thing looks so cute in a way.
The lottery solo mining is actually a really cool idea, too

They are handy and pretty fun to play around with, mostly a science experiment more than anything.

Totally agree. I know its late but I'm finally getting into this myself.

What coin you are going to mine?

Probably just set it to switching for low difficulty coins

hmm, well with hf20 i know they are bringing back mining using scrypt for litecoin mining for making steem accounts, wonder how many i would need of these to make it worth while? like x 10 of these units, 40m/h would'nt be bad

Probably be better off getting the L3 from bitmain if you are looking for profit https://shop.bitmain.com/antminer_l3_litecoin_asic_scrypt_miner.htm

well not really for profit. i wanna mine to be able to use scrypt for litecoin mining for creating steemit accounts which will happen in hf20 i heard.

10 Would do it, they run around $80-110 each

Hey @azfix!
Can you recommend any graphic card with good price/performance ratio?

And is it possible to mine on windows? I would set it up just for an experiment to learn how it works, but i dont want to set it up on Linux. :)

No problem mining on windows, the GTX 1060 6GB model is one of the better cards price wise along with the GTX 1070 TI if you want to go cheap get the 1050 TI its a nice card to learn with. On the AMD side RX 470, 570, 560 or the RX Vega 56 are good cards. The Vega 56 is hard to get at the 399 price, so dont pay more than $500 for it.

I always thought about starting to mine to make a few crypto coins, but many people say it just isn't worth it. I'd love to see what results you come up with and know how much time it'll take for you to get a return on your investment.

Great post! I upvoted :D

Would be greatly appreciated if you could provide any kind of feedback on my blogs, whenever you get a chance. It will encourage me to keep doing better and help me on my journey. Thanks!

If you do it as a hobby I think its worth it for sure and its a great learning experience with this low cost device. I would not think about ROI with a device like this, just have some fun and save the coins.

how much litecoin per day?

#Litecoin will surpass the moon in size and become a planet #LTC

Its been a solid coin for a long time and the more asics that power the network the better.

Stock setting get you around 3mh/s to about 4mhs depending on your setting in bfgminer.

great post...........///////////

Is the fan looking solid? Will it need to be replaced some day because of wearing out?

Can i use any cutom scrypt to mine any crypto currency with like ethereum, Or Dash with it?
