Memory hard hashing algorithm were considered a way to avoid asics mining take over - the basis for GPU mining.
It seems now that Bitmain has found a way how to go around this and is seriously on track producing "ethereum" miner who could put GPU miners out of business like immediately. 200 Mh/s for around 3'000 USD would be a great price / performance ratio and might even be better as soon as things are going.

Have you heard about that already? What is your opinion on this news?
Gamers will be rejoicing @ this news.
The price of most new GPUs has been kept artificially high due to overwhelming demand from miners, so this ASIC will be a godsend to gamers on a budget.
That is true - I guess as someone more invested in GPU mining than in gaming I am a bit more worried. But you got me totally with the gaming part - I just concentrate on that and take it as a good news ;-)
Just in time for ETH to go POS lol
This is why I’ve stayed away from mining! I don’t know anything about the tech and I have a feeling I’d be sold a bag of goods! A trustable market isn’t quite there yet, for me. I’m pretty sure a friend of mine last about $50,000 on mining equipment!
wow asic
very interesting vid:) dear @famunger really injoy this video
thanks for link
buy that time you couldn't mine Eth anymore but I am sure you could mine other currency. The positive is finally we wont have gpu shortage and the negative is well I just don't like bitmain.
This is very useful information .. I have never hear before 🤝🙏
ya, i have heared about that device which is currently produce cryptocoin insane, cpu and gpu are now on trouble for hard working.
Bitmain is a killing. Maybe ETH will go PoS but there would be still a lots of cryptos to mine profitably with this hardware... can't deny that
