What happens when you drop an upvote bot in a Discord group with 9000+ members??
Minnow Support Project Info
One of the most successful and widespread communities on Steemit is the Minnow Support Project (MSP), founded by the witnesses @aggroed and @ausbitbank. If you been around for some time you surely must have come across and heard about this community.
MSP is best explored by going to https://minnowsupportproject.org. At the core of the community is a Discord server known by the name PALnet. PAL is short for Peace, Abundance & Liberty, the motto of Minnowsupport Project.
PALnet
The Discord server PALnet has grown at a rapid speed and now hosts more than 9000 members. A whole range of channels exists, a mix of language/country channels with topic specific channels.
A channel bringing a lot of attention, for good or bad, is the #upvote channel. In there registered members can use the $upvote command to upvote a post every 24h. Currently this is supported by the @minnowsupport STEEM account, backed up with ~90K SP.
Dorabot
If you’ve been following me you know that I have create a bot called @dorabot, a PALnet exclusive. Her call command is ?help and she provides a number of different functions. One functionality that I never announced is the ?upvote command. The command works in the exact same way as the $upvote command from @minnowsupport, but without any advanced error checking or rules.
So what about those upvote stats
It has been interesting to see how the knowledge of @dorabot's upvote command has spread. From only a few attempts per day up to 10-20 per hour.
The value of an upvote is nothing to be excited about, currently @dorabot only holds 1K SP, mainly delegated from my account. I mainly had this running for fun and to prepare for a new upvote service (soon to be released), and to prevent the voting power from reaching 100%. Keep your eyes open for Doravote!
Below you will find a graph of the number of upvotes over time. Pretty cool to see how the knowledge of ?upvote has spread. This is completely without advertising the service. Users have just picked up the command from the menu or seen other people using it.
As mentioned above there are no rules for the number of upvotes. So quite frequently someone will try to use the upvote command on several of their posts.
And if 2 upvotes works, why not try it...

I recently joined PAL community on discord ... i must say the minnowsupport bot has been really helpful..
Few days back i got an upvote from dorabot after dropping a comment in Steemit comment challenge #15 organised by you :))
I was confused because dora popped out of nowhere ..loL!
....But now i know better!
Once the minnowsupport upvote room starts functioning ..i'll surely call on her. Hopefully by then she (dorabot) must have had enough rest.

It was Minnowsupport bot that needed a rest as it was down to 10%VP... But Dorabot runs in the same channel so she is resting now as well. :) Anyway, the Dorabot votes via the ?upvote command is nothing to get excited about, less than 1 cent at 1%... Just something I did for fun.
Come back in a couple of days and then Minnow should be back.
