Now that the confusions have been put to bed, one thing is for sure - Jannatul Nayeem Avril is going to represent Bangladesh in the upcoming 67th Miss World competition

It appears that live TV competition finales are officially about to become the worst nightmare for organisers. After 2015’s Miss Universe finale and last year’s Oscars conundrum, Lovello Miss World Bangladesh finale followed the same path last Friday night. The host Sheena Chohan wrongly announced Jannatul Sumaiya Himi as the winner on Friday night’s finale. The judges at once reported that according to their list, Jannatul Nayeem Avril had won. But why did this confusion occur in the first place? Was Sheena Chohan provided a different list? Well, the organisers have provided a written statement to clear things up.

Antar Showbiz chairperson Swapan Chowdhury pointed out in his statement that both the participants’ name started with “Jannatul”, which is probably what created the confusion in the first place. “Because of the live telecast, we were suddenly informed that we have only few minutes left in our allottment. So we had to hurry up. The announcer Sheena Chohan handled everything perfectly except the main announcement. Same thing happened at the Oscars as well. But we sincerely apologise for this mistake,” said Swapan Chowdhury.

Omicon Entertainment chairperson Mehedi Hasan said in a different statement, “Because of the same hurry, the prize giving ceremony could not take place properly. The time lag in the live telecast messed everything up. That’s why we have arranged a post-program prize giving day. In the program, the prizes will be distributed among winners alongside announcements about the world tour.”

Now that the confusions have been put to bed, one thing is for sure – Jannatul Nayeem Avril is going to represent Bangladesh in the upcoming 67th Miss World competition. Hopefully the journey ahead will appear easier to our beauty after the finale fiasco.
