Book Synopsis
A beautiful and poignant story of one family during the most violent and turbulent years of world history, Miss Burma is a powerful novel of
love and war, colonialism and ethnicity, and the ties of blood. Miss Burma tells the story of modern-day Burma through the eyes of Benny and
Khin, husband and wife, and their daughter Louisa. After attending school in Calcutta, Benny settles in Rangoon, then part of the British Empire,
and falls in love with Khin, a woman who is part of a long-persecuted ethnic minority group, the Karen. World War II comes to Southeast Asia,
and Benny and Khin must go into hiding in the eastern part of the country during the Japanese Occupation, beginning a journey that will lead
them to change the country’s history. After the war, the British authorities make a deal with the Burman nationalists, led by Aung San, whose
party gains control of the country. When Aung San is assassinated, his successor ignores the pleas for self-government of the Karen people and
other ethnic groups, and in doing so sets off what will become the longest-running civil war in recorded history. Benny and Khin’s eldest child,
Louisa, has a danger-filled, tempestuous childhood and reaches prominence as Burma’s first beauty queen soon before the country falls to
dictatorship. As Louisa navigates her newfound fame, she is forced to reckon with her family’s past, the West’s ongoing covert dealings in her

ရွာမိန္း ခရိတ္ ။ ။ က်မငယ္ငယ္ကတည္းက အေမရဲ႕ ေက်ာ္ၾကားမႈေတြကို ၾကားဖူးေနတယ္။ သူ႐ုပ္ရွင္ မင္းသမီးျဖစ္ခဲ့တာ၊ မစၥဘားမား မယ္ဗမာ အလွမယ္ ဘြဲ႕ကို ႏွစ္ႀကိမ္ဆြတ္ခူးရရွိခဲ့တာ၊ ေနာက္ပိုင္းမွာ ကရင္ေတာ္လွန္ေရး ေခါင္းေဆာင္နဲ႕ အိမ္ေထာင္က်ခဲ့ပုံ၊ ခင္ပြန္းသည္ လုပ္ႀကံခံရပုံ၊ အဲ့ဒီ ေနာက္မွာ သူကိုယ္တိုင္ ကရင္ ေတာ္လွန္ေရး ေခါင္းေဆာင္တစ္ဦး အေနနဲ႕ သူ႕ခင္ပြန္းရဲ႕ တပ္ကို ဦးေဆာင္ခဲ့ပုံေတြပါ။ ကြၽန္မ သိပ္ကို စိတ္ဝင္စားတာကေတာ့ ကြၽန္မသိကြၽမ္းခဲ့ရတဲ့ ကြၽန္မ ရဲ႕ မိခင္၊ ေနာက္ ကြၽန္မ သိခ်င္ေနတဲ့ ဒ႑ာရီ ဆန္လွတဲ့ ရာဇဝင္တြင္တဲ့ ကြၽန္မ ရဲ႕ မိခင္ပါ။ ဒီလို ျခားနားလွတဲ့ ဘဝကို စာေရးခ်င္ေန တာ ကြၽန္မ အထက္တန္းေက်ာင္းသူ ဘဝကတည္းကပါ လို႔ ရွာမိန္း ခရိတ္က ေျပာပါတယ္။

၁၉၆၃ ခုႏွစ္မွာ ဗိုလ္ခ်ဳပ္ႀကီး ေနဝင္း ဦးေဆာင္တဲ့ ေတာ္လွန္ေရးေကာင္စီ အစိုးရနဲ႕ Karen Revolutionary Council (KRC) အၾကား ၿငိမ္းခ်မ္းေရး သေဘာတူညီခ်က္ လက္မွတ္ေရးထိုးခဲ့ၿပီး ေနာက္ ၁၉၆၄ ခုႏွစ္မွာ KRC တပ္မဟာ (၅) ရဲ႕ တပ္မႉး ဗိုလ္မႉးခ်ဳပ္ လင္းထင္ နဲ႕ ေနာ္လူဝီဇာ ဘင္ဇင္တို႔ ရန္ကုန္ၿမိဳ႕မွာ တခမ္းတနား လက္ထပ္ခဲ့ပါတယ္။

အလြန္ေခ်ာေမာလွပတဲ့ နံမည္ေက်ာ္ အလွမယ္ ေနာ္လူဝီဇာ ဘင္ဇင္ ဟာ ကရင္လက္နက္ကိုင္ အဖြဲ႕ရဲ႕ အရာရွိ ဗိုလ္မႉးခ်ဳပ္ လင္းထင္ နဲ႕ လက္ထပ္လိုက္တဲ့ သတင္းက တစ္ၿမိဳ႕လုံး ဟိုးေလးတေက်ာ္ ျဖစ္သြား ပါတယ္။

ဗိုလ္မႉးခ်ဳပ္ လင္းထင္ရဲ႕ လက္နက္ကိုင္တပ္ဖြဲ႕ကို ကာကြယ္ေရး တပ္အျဖစ္ အသြင္ေျပာင္းဖို႔ ဖိအားေပးခံေနရတဲ့ အခ်ိန္မွာ ၁၉၆၅ခုႏွစ္မွာ ဗိုလ္မႉးခ်ဳပ္ လင္းထင္ ဟာ စစ္ေထာက္လွမ္းေရးရဲ႕ ပစ္ခတ္ သတ္ျဖတ္တာကိုခံရပါတယ္။ ခင္ပြန္းသည္ အသတ္ခံရၿပီး ေနာက္မွာ ေနာ္လူဝီဇာ ဘင္ဇင္ ဟာ သူ႕ခင္ပြန္းရဲ႕ တပ္သားေတြကို စုေဆာင္းၿပီ ေကအန္ယူ တပ္မဟာ ၅ နယ္ေျမထဲ တိမ္းေရွာင္သြား ပါတယ္။ အခုလို ကရင္လက္နက္ကိုင္ေတာ္လွန္ေရးထဲ ေျခစုံျပစ္ဝင္လိုက္တဲ့ အခါမွာ အားလုံးက အံ့အားသင့္သြားပါတယ္။

ဒါေပမယ့္ ကရင္လူမ်ိဳးေတြ အၾကားမွာေတာ့ သူ႕ကို အထူး ၾကည္ညိုေလးစားၾကပါတယ္။

ေနာ္လူဝီဇာ ရန္ကုန္ၿမိဳ႕မွာ ေနထိုင္စဥ္ မယ္ဗမာ၊ ႐ုပ္ရွင္မင္းသမီး ဘ၀မွာ ဗိုလ္ခ်ဳပ္ႀကီးေနဝင္းအိမ္ကို မၾကာခန ဝင္ထြက္ သြားလာ ခဲ့တဲ့ အတြက္ သူနဲ႕ ဦးေနဝင္းကို စြပ္စြဲေျပာဆို တဲ့ သတင္းေတြ ထြက္ေပၚခဲ့ပါတယ္။

ေကအန္ယူနယ္ေျမ ထဲကို တိမ္းေရွာင္လာတဲ့ ေနာ္လူဝီဇာဟာ ေတာေတာင္ထဲမွာ အခက္အခဲ အမ်ိဳးမ်ိဳးေတြနဲ႕ ရင္ဆိုင္ ခဲ့ရၿပီး ေနာက္ဆုံးမွာ သူ႕ရဲ႕ ရည္းစားေဟာင္းျဖစ္သူ အေမရိကန္ နိုင္ငံသား Glen Craig ဂလင္ ခရိတ္နဲ႕ အဆက္အသြယ္ျပန္ရခဲ့ပါတယ္။ ၁၉၆၇ ခုႏွစ္မွာ သူတို႔ ႏွစ္ဦး လက္ထပ္လိုက္ၾကၿပီး ေယာင္ေနာက္ ဆံထုံးပါ ဆိုသလို သူ လည္း အေမရိကနိုင္ငံ ကယ္လီဖိုးနီးယား ျပည္နယ္ကို ေျပာင္းေ႐ႊ႕ေနထိုင္ ခဲ့ပါတယ္။

အေမရိကန္ မွာ ေနထိုင္စဥ္ ေနာ္လူဝီဇာ ဟာ ထိုင္းျမန္မာ နယ္စပ္က ကရင္ ဒုကၡသည္ေတြ အေမရိကန္နိုင္ငံကို ေျပာင္းေ႐ႊ႕ အေျခခ်နိုင္ဖို႔ အားႀကိဳးမာန္တက္ ေဆာင္႐ြက္ခဲ့ပါ တယ္။

ျပည္တြင္းစစ္ေၾကာင့္ ဒုကၡေရာက္ေနတဲ့ ကရင္လူမ်ိဳးေတြအေရးကို အားႀကိဳးမန္တက္ ကူညီေဆာင္႐ြက္ေပးခဲ့တဲ့ လူ႕အခြင့္အေရး လႈပ္ရွားသူ တဦးလည္း ျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ ကရင္လူထုအေပၚ ထားတဲ့ သူ႕ရဲ႕ ေစတနာ ကို ကရင္ လူမ်ိဳးေတြက အသိအမွတ္ျပဳခဲ့ၿပီး အခုခ်ိန္ထိ ကရင္ေတြ ေလးစားခံရတဲ့ ပုဂၢိဳလ္တဦးျဖစ္တယ္လို႔ သူ႕သမီး ရွာမိန္းခရိတ္က ေျပာပါတယ္။

ရွာမိန္းခရိတ္။ ။ လြန္ခဲ့တဲ့ ၂၂ ႏွစ္ေလာက္က က်မ ျမန္မာျပည္ ဆီ အလည္အပတ္ ေရာက္ခဲ့တုံးက ကရင္ေတြနဲ႔ ေတြ႕တဲ့ အခါမွာ ကြၽန္မ အေမဟာ အခုအထိ ကရင္ေတြ အၾကားမွာ ေက်ာ္ၾကားေနဆဲဆိုတာကို သိရေတာ့ ကြၽန္မ ရင္ထဲမွာ ေႏြးေထြးတဲ့ ခံစားမႈေတြ ျဖစ္ေပၚခဲ့ပါတယ္။ အဲဒီတုန္းက သူဟာ ကရင္လူမ်ိဳး ေတာ္ေတာ္မ်ားမ်ားအတြက္ ရာဇဝင္တြင္တဲ့ သူတစ္ဦး ျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ အဲ့ဒီအျပင္ သူဟာ ကရင္လူမ်ိဳးေတြ အျပင္ တျခားအဖိႏွိပ္ခံလူေတြအတြက္ လည္း ေရွ႕တန္းက လူ႕အခြင့္အေရး လႈပ္ရွားသူ တစ္ဦးျဖစ္ခဲ့ပါတယ္။ အေမရိကန္ကို ျမန္မာဒုကၡသည္ေတြ ေျပာင္းေ႐ႊ႕အေျခခ်နိဳင္ေအာင္ သူ အမ်ားႀကီး လုပ္ေပးခဲ့ပါတယ္။ ၁၉၈၈ ခုႏွစ္ ကေန ၂၀၁၀ ခုႏွစ္ သူ မကြန္လြန္ခ်ိန္အထိ သူကဒုကၡသည္ေတြကို အကူအညီေတြ ေပးခဲ့ပါတယ္။ သူဟာ လူထုေလးစားတဲ့ ကရင္ ေခါင္းေဆာင္တဦးလို႔ က်မခံစားရတယ္။

ေနာ္လူဝီဇာဟာ အေမရိကနိုင္ငံအေျခစိုက္ ျမန္မာ့အေရး လႈပ္ရွားသူအဖြဲ႕ ျဖစ္တဲ့ Burma Forum ႏွင့္ US Campaign for Burma ရဲ႕ အဖြဲ႕ဝင္တဦးလည္း ျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ သူဟာ ျမန္မာ႐ုပ္ရွင္ကား အနည္းငယ္ ပါဝင္သ႐ုပ္ေဆာင္ခဲ့ၿပီး အဆိုေတာ္ တဦးလည္း ျဖစ္ပါတယ္။

ေနာ္လူဝီဇာ ရဲ႕ ဖခင္ဟာ ဂ်ဴးလူမ်ိဳးျဖစ္ၿပီး မိခင္ က ကရင္တိုင္းရင္းသူ တဦးျဖစ္တယ္။

သူဟာ ၂၀၁၀ ေဖေဖၚဝါရီလမွာ ဦးေႏွာက္ကင္ဆာေရာဂါနဲ႕ ကယ္လီဖိုးျပည္နယ္မွာ ကြယ္လြန္သြားခဲ့ပါတယ္။
