Plate adjustments

Remember the old plate from log 5? Well, it got a facelift! it now looks like an actual plate. I simplified the geometry a ton and used far fewer polygons. This made the plate easier to handle and adjust.
On to the new things!

Updates

This log entry will focus on texturing objects. I started experimenting with textures of the bottom plane. I wanted to make it look like a wooden table. I used a free texture from https://www.poliigon.com
I started out by learning about texture unwrapping. It was pretty simple for the plane since it only has 1 face, but I also experimented with a cube, to see if I could get it to flatten properly. I marked which edges should be texture seams to allow it to flatten.

Next, I opened the node editor and added 3 images. 1st I added the color map, which just slapped on a flat texture on the plane. Then I continued by adding a bump map and a gloss map. The final result looks pretty good in my opinion.
