The most people don't understand money. They believe in inventions, myths, and misinterpretations that were taught from other people that also understood less about what they were talking.
In the book "Lessons of History" from Will Durant he clarifies this subject analyzing different times and cultures, he explains that money and economy are the roots for everything we do, and probably will still be for a long time in the future.
Durant says: "History, is economics in action— the contest, among individuals, groups, classes, and states, for food, fuel, materials, and economic power. Political forms, religious institutions, cultural creations, are all rooted in economic realities. "
Before you make more money you must understand how money and economics affect the history. Take some books about finances - self-help books and other more concrete about money and economy.
I would like to contribute to your finance education by saying two things I think are extremely important understanding money.
Mathematics is the language of money
You must improve your ability on maths if you want to be more successful. Don't be like the most people that directly say "I am not a numbers person" this is a belief that will just limit you and will create a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Everyone can be good with finances and numbers, even it is not your favorite subject in the world.
Learn little things will give you a huge edge. Be friend with the numbers if this is yet not your case, refresh your arithmetic, percentage, statistics and probability knowledge.
Don't fall in the trap to over simplify money.
Money is not evil
Money is just a tool, a very powerful one. All tool can be evil if in the hands of fools. Just don't be a fool with your money and you will do well.
If you understand with clarity and without delusion the effects of money in the history and will keep having in your daily life, this will help you a lot.
