@danpaulson and I went to a great event at the Maltcross pub in Nottingham called Steampunk Sunday. For those that were wondering... Steampunk is a subgenre of science fiction or science fantasy that incorporates technology and aesthetic designs inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-power. Although its origins are sometimes associated with the cyberpunk genre, steampunk is often set in an alternative history of the 19th century's British Victorian era or American "Wild West", in a future during which steam power has maintained mainstream usage.
You can always tell a great Steampunk event by the profusion and variety of hats being worn! Dan's looking very dapper in his bright yellow pith helmet, with the Cyberdog goggles.
It was a lively affair, with a variety of acts on stage in the old music hall building, including:
Trent Navigation Company - Shanty and sea-song group
Captain Kuppa T and the Zeppelin Crew - Acapella act extraordinaire
The Cogkneys - Music hall merriment
BB Blackdog - Psychedelic rock
Dr. Corvus Marconi - Mesmerism and unbelievable feats
Dr. Cornelius Porridge - Adventurer, part time-traveler, part badger
Cherry Twirls - Hula hoop artist
Our friend Miles was headlining with his band BB Blackdog, he's in the photo below on bass guitar.
This event was great fun and if you've never been to a Steampunk event, now might be the time to try it!
