Monopolized Violence

in #monopoly2 years ago (edited)

A man with a gun tells you that no one else should have guns because you're all too stupid and evil to have them, and you'll randomly kill everyone you know and love for no good reason. But you can trust him, so he should be the only one with a gun, and he should get to tell you how to live your life and what you are and aren't allowed to live. Then he proceeded to make everyone fight wars that only work to his gain, that are petty and selfish, and are filled with lies and more. He took more and more of your rights away over time, jacked up how much of your shit he is allowed to steal (taxes), and so on. Wars simply can't happen in something without a government or group entity; the USA declares war on... Bob from that land formerly known as "Australia"; therefore, we're going to kill everyone that has nothing to do with Bob? Good luck with that! They are criminals. They have a monopoly on violence. They take your shit without consent, and they kill or put you in a box forever if you don't let them. They also tell you you're not allowed to do things even if it doesn't hurt anyone else, and even if others will let you do it, merely because they can tell you to. And they're allowed to kill you or throw you in a box if you don't listen to them. A lack of government is better than all of them; we live in a state of constant and terrifying failure. To say anarchism may fail when nothing statist can work in theory or even in practicality is, well, meaningless. Do you accept that no man is intelligent enough to meaningfully predict and account for all the needs, wants, and restrictions that should and shouldn't be placed on every human within a broad geographical area? Do you accept that no man can tell even one other man that he knows better what that man wants and should do than the man does? Do you accept that murder and stealing are wrong? You cannot accept any of these and believe Statism to be acceptable or functional. The highest likelihood of not ending in governments comes from an extremely individualist and well-armed populace wherein the maximum overlap of virtue and profit is achieved. Governments are a monopoly on violence which means that they distinctly benefit from a lack of consequence to their actions and a lack of defense against their actions. They have the right to take what they want from you, give you whatever they like, and keep you paying it. Therefore, maximum immorality is theirs for the taking. This is not true in Anarchocapitalism. America always had a higher gun death rate, most of which are suicides and accidents, and furthermore, the rate is startlingly low, only about 22k or something a year, out of 360 000 000 folks die (outside of suicide). More are killed by cars and things. Most of them are criminals killing criminals. In terms of overall rate, it is extremely low. Other countries were historically lower. terracore
